Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild
I do love winter and really, when I've had enough of it, spring is usually around the corner!
Yesterday was a big busy day but I did manage to get the top section of the casting deck cut out, here's how I did it...
I grabbed a 1/4" scrap piece of ply and set it in place. Then scribed, took it out of the boat, trimmed it down, and repeated like a hundred times till it fit correctly. Here is is after about 50ish...
This template really just got me the rough dimensions so I laid out the lines and made sure everything was symmetrical on 3/4" Arauco...
For the cut I tilted the Jig Saw just a little to help out the fit/finish (I'm cutting from the bottom here) and tried to stay in the middle of the big black Sharpie mark...
And dry fit...
Like it! A lot! I jumped up there right away to check it out. I have plenty of room for a comfortable "fish fighten" stance. From the middle I can take a small step in any direction - doesn't feel cramped or crowded. I also have plenty of room to stand up there with my trolling motor foot control. Cool!
I'll see about getting the lower section of that casting deck cut out today.
Have a great Sunday guys!!
