DoHHHH..Take a break man your going 100mph. That black on the silver is the bees knees! You might want to repaint the whole side to get a wet edge all the way. At least your paint isn't $40/qt.

Frog tape has been working good for me too. Tonight I pull of the yellow variety.

OOoooooo maaaaaaaannnnnn! I really don't want to go that route. Wouldn't bother me a bit if I still had it all taped up and stuff. We'll let it harden up and see what I can muster. I really should have just let it be and called it a war wound. Wasn't that bad. Don't ya hate it when ya make things worse when you are trying to make it better! Ugh!

Well, It's on the trailer and I'll get you guys some sunlight photos this afternoon so you can check it out.

I know, forgot I had those sitting there. Saved me from spending a bunch of cash anyway;)

Yah, pretty happy with how it turned out till I mucked it all up!!

Yup, I'll not be running a rattle can on my Islander. Fine for just the hull sides on this little Jet but the Islander is a big girl.

I'm pretty sure the stereotypes will continue for a while;)

I could go for a pastie about now:D

Thanks man! Yah, I have no real intention of babying this boat. She'll be a fishing rig and I'll run er. Se was bound to get a gouge the first time out anyway. Spose this is just breaking the ice.:)

Pimp is right Jas! Look'in fine!

Just come up with a better story 'bout the gouge, you'll be alright...

"it was a huge walleye with razor sharp teeth, came right at the boat & chomp! Guess it looked so good, he thought it was a lure..."

Keep it up bro!

You can just barely make out my lawn mower there in the reflection...

Perfect? Hardly.

Professional grade? Nope.

OK for a simple fishin rig that's nearly a half century old? Yup!:)

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Thanks fellas!:)

Yah TII, I may have just a few steps to complete yet my friend;) I'll get on it!

Speaking of that, I think I otta make a short list here:

For now, I am going to ignore my gash in the spray rail there, maybe it'll just go away:D

- Prep for paint on the topsides and inside

- Paint

- Install flotation

- Build and install deck

I feel like I might have just rolled over the hump on this project.:)

paint looks good jas. have you thought about putting some clear coat over the paint to help protect it a little more?

Jas, in earlier shots of the trailer there's a stern keel roller (I think). Now it seems you have no keel rollers at all. (Or am I blind? :p) I'll be interested to know if she's easy to launch and retrieve with bunks only, or did I miss something and you're intending to refit the roller(s)?

Nah, I don't think so. We'll run er as is.

I am way looking forward to seeing this little Jet float and the kiddos pulling in some panfish:)

Well, the original trailer had keel rollers with little bunks (like short of a meter). This trailer came under a glasser with full roller setup that I converted to 8' bunks.

I am confident that it won't hit the trailer at the back cross member so no roller necessary there.

At one point I did have a roller at the bow but took it off the same day as I don't think I need that one either. I should know right away on the first launch if the bow will bonk the trailer. If it does and I need it, I'll install it - no biggie.

This is a nice, light, little boat. Should be a total breeze to launch/land, looking forward to it:)

Thanks for stopping by guys!

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

OK, morning progress.

I don't yet have all my top side paint supplies on hand so I thought I'd take a stab at flotation before work today. Holy smokes, that has to be the easiest job I have done to date on either boat! Sooooo simple!

I ran Pink Panther foam board through the table saw and laid it in...

Relevant Info: This deck will be concave, more on that later.

The foam is cut to rest on the rib flanges keeping it off the bottom for drainage purposes. It's 3/4" thick and when pushed down into place, sits perfectly flush with the ribs which will give the deck excellent support. It took exactly one 4'x8' sheet to complete.

Really nice to have something go super easy for once.:D

I'm almost to that stage too. Looking nice and neat! BUT Whats missing in those pics?
Seriously, is that all your putting in? It's only about 50 lbs of displacement.

I think your paint job looks better than mine. My high build epoxy primer has a tendancy to orange peel but I knew that going into it. Good work!
