Gotta love them outboards:D

Rig up a tiller and 6 gallon tank...and splash that rig!

Did somebody say TILLER?????

Looks good Jas,.....But just imagine how much less rigging and how much more room yous would have with a tiller!!!!

That thing is fitting like a glove, I'm impressed. It will look like a factory splashwell the way you are going.:)

Thanks man! Yah, I am glad I kinda went mid range vs. no splashwell or a mini splashwell. I think it fits the boat pretty well.

Very nice work.

Thanks bro! Hey, have you seen teamster lately? Seems like he hasn't been around much these days?

Yup, there he is, never mind:facepalm:

K, this morning I got a little work done.

I figured so long as the transom was in there I may as well drill out everything I need to.

First up the drain holes. There were two from the factory, port and starboard. Problem is they were way high from the middle which is the low point of this splashwell. Unless something has changed, water runs down hill eh. So I quick checked the OB for clearance and seemed aok so I drilled out a new one at the center.

Drilled pilot holes for the rest of the bolts, popped it out and over drilled all the holes...

I feel as though I am on the verge of progress. Bummer is I need to spend a few days with the landlord hat on:facepalm:

Hee hee! That transom is so little and cute compared to the one in the Islander!

That does look sweet, but I'm sweating just thinking about being out in the sun in it.

I can't agree more, both with it looking sweet, and it looking dangerous. It gets HOT out there on occasion, and every little bit can help or hurt dramatically. I say black looks awesome, but should be kept off your topside and interior for comfort and safety's sake. The difference between a light color and a very dark can be many degrees when it's in direct sunlight. This is compounded by the fact it's on a boat, where people will be wearing shorts and swimsuits, and already are affected by sun and heat. A skipper needs increases in risk of heat stroke or burns about as much as he needs another hole in the hull!

Yah, I swing that Jet transom under my arm like it's the Sunday newspaper. The Islander transom required 20 minutes of warm ups and stretching exercises followed by slamming 2 Red Bulls just to move it on the other side of the workshop:rolleyes:

Nah, this killed it :p (for this week anyway)

Yup, pretty much. Though, I busted serious butt and cranked out two weeks worth of work in about two days. I am pumped! Still have construction zone at my place but I can keep picking away at the Jet too:)

Ok, yup I do like the bare alum and black for sure. But, then I see this combo which is sweet too...

Ah, we'll see what comes of this paint scheme.

Morning progress -

I keep having thoughts of a "big boned" fishing buddy sitting on this splashwell and having it fold right in half. So, I grabbed a couple of scraps of Arauco ply and sealed them up with paint...

These got installed under (up against) the two vertical sections at the front of the splashwell. Beefy, I like it and I do feel better now;)

I also just about got all the holes sealed in the hull from the po's rigging and such.

Are you inviting me to go fishing?
Are you calling me fat?

Nah you boys aren't fat, just fluffy! You know, always ready for for that northern hemisphere cold snap;):D

Yah I'd love to go fishin you fellas:)

Now, if only one of us had a boat ready for the water:rolleyes::facepalm:

Well got a few more things done today, post up photos on that later. Nothing special.

Bought another 100 rivets today, wore out my rivet gun too (second one so far) just as I was getting things accomplished. Still working on some structure stuff and filling holes for the most part.

I'm fighting the temptation to jump ahead to other stuff. I really just need one more good work day to get the bones of this Jet shored up first. Then to hull prep.

hey Jas, your color scheme effort looked alot like mine i did this past sun lol:D
i found that paint is a very rough idea of what you plan to accomplish
Seriously the black and cream is nice, but man something about a bare shiny hull at the water line just looks great:cool: I say if you got a good enough hull go for the bare and black.
be proud of the ol girl, dont cover it up, let it all show :D:D:Dlol

Bad news. Very bad news.

The docs have told us that the cancer mom has been fighting for a while now is just too aggressive and there is little they can do from here on. They are the best in the game and have given their all.

I'll probably be off the boat for a while tending to other things.

I will be around here though - your projects help keep an otherwise idle mind occupied.
