Looks like you're enjoying your new spray gun Jason... is there anything left to spray 'round your place, like, say an Islander? :p

Dood - could you come over next weekend and rebuild my boat trailers too? I'm sure you have nothing better to do.

Looks great man!

Yah, I'd love it! My worry is that the completion date for this Jet might be butting up pretty close to bow season so I'll have to make some good choices as I go along.

The walleyes and perch should be in close by then. You could run just out of the mouth of the river and jig for them. That is easy fishing. As far as bow season, hunt in the morning, then fish in the afternoon, then hunt again in the evening. There I just solved all the choices for you.;)

Yah, that Islander sure could use a coat of paint huh:facepalm:

I am so glad that I have this smaller rig to work on - not finishing the big girl this year with no options would have been a real bummer.

Yah, I have work to do. Finally moved back into the house the other day (I refinished all the hardwood floors) so the furniture got moved back in and in turn the Jet found her way back into the garage. We'll see what we can accomplish from here on my friend.

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

OK so today I hooked up the trailer for the first time and ya know what...

THE LIGHTS WORKED!!! FIRST SHOT! I dunno about you guys, but whenever I run all the wiring/hook up trailer lights AND they work right out of the gate - like winning the lotto for me:D

I hauled er over to the local stone yard for a weight - came in at a svelte 460 lbs.

Ran over to the Sec. of State, paid em some money, thankfully they had the vanity plate right there that I really wanted...

Cheers fellas:D

Any CSM, I think that's the recommendation here when using poly. :D

I like shiny wood floors. You did a great job! Get the sink in or watch out for the frying pan!

Great job on the floors, just wondering what type of poly you used? You work too hard, you're making me tired.

MOBBQ!

rofl!

I'm pretty sure I remember you talking about a key lime pie for the next mob gathering??:D

the frying pan!

No joke man! Yah, just gave my granite wholesaler guy the templates this morning. Supposedly two weeks to cut out my countertops from some rock. Then the sink goes in, she'll be a very happy wife. She might even let me work on this Jet for a minute or two:)

Thanks lake! I typically go with two coats of gloss for durability then one coat of satin for the final coat to tone it down.

K, so I stumbled into the marine dealers place today. I ended up spending way too much dough there! I bought fuel line and all the fittings for my OB and tanks. I spent probably spent double what I needed to, ugh. It was hot, the kiddos were "exploring", I really want to get my OB running, weak moment man. Handed the fella plastic. Not my normal MO but got what I needed.

Anyway, they did have a sharp little 16' Starcraft there, black, nice...

Ry was checking it out, it's his 5th Bday tomorrow. He unwrapped a new fishing rod tonight, he was pumped.

Another mini splashwell idea hmmmmmmm...

Glad you didn't use the water based. I made the mistake of using it and after only a few years it is totally shot in areas where there's any kind of traffic. Kinda made all that sanding work a waste of time. Next time, I'll do it right!

Surprised you didn't lay down epoxy on those floors, they would've been boomproof! :D

Seriously, the energizer bunny has got nothing on you....:)

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Was funny Jason... I was waiting and waiting for update on your other resto till It dawned on me.....like you said your gonna finish this one first (hey no one said I was the sharpest tool in the shed, in fact I dont even own a shed :p). So thats what a sprayed finish looks like huh (looks cherry)... wish you woulda sprayed before me... then I would have been convinced to follow suit :D.

Nice work on the floors they look real nice too... and I know its hard work. Im almost done restoring my house top to bottom :D Todays math lesson.... Boats = fun work and Houses = work therefore doing both = 2 much work... LOL

Yah, a few years ago they cam out with a "FLOORS" version which I really like - dries very fast (so long as it's not humid).

Thanks bro. I work pretty stinking hard right now. I do hope later in life I can slow down a little. Fish, hunt, paddle, climb, backpack, read, stuff like that.

Oh man, with my kiddos and all the action in my place hardwood is the only way to go. I'll need to do a light sand and another quick coat in a few years.

Yah, that spray job on the trailer wasn't as nice as what I did on the bottom of the Islander. I think for a boat hull I'd want to tweek the air pressure, thin a little more, and do it on a day that wasn't so stinking hot and humid. For a trailer, it was all good.

Yah, at any point in time I am having to rebuild any one of the three houses I have (two rental properties too).

OK, today's goal:

Get that Johnson OB up and running.

Let's see if I can get all the stuff I need together and find a minute to make it happen.:D
