Yeah Jas you have to be careful on those shady web sites someone could steal your identity and start collecting royalties on the tide jug flotation method:D

And I thought I was the only one who considered staring progress. I feel a lot better now. Almost like going to Starer's Anonymous.

Hmmm... "Starcraft"... "Stare-craft"... hmmm...

You guys are kind of a odd bunch, eh.

I like it:D

So it was about a hundred degrees with about a thousand percent humidity. So how about a little work on the trailer, sounds like a good idea:facepalm:

Got the tires off, set it up on saw horses and mounted those fenders...

I decided there is no way I am going the distance I did on the Islander trailer. So I just wire wheeled off the loose rust and gave the whole thing a wipe down with mineral spirits. Then primed...
IMAG0300.jpg

I etched primed those galvanized pieces too, just for kicks.

I'm just going to paint the whole thing white so down the road, when it needs it, I'll pop off the tires and hit it again. Easy.:)

Yup, and here it is...

Goal? Paint trailer. Check!

There she is, three coats sprayed with my new spray gun. We won't win any trailer beauty pageants but we gave those up years ago. All that binge eating, then starving and throwing up just to look good. For get about it!

Ya wanna see something kinda funny?

Jen was complaining that the dining room table was looking shabby and wanted it painted. Well, I had a little left in the bucket after the trailer was done so, I dumped it in the gun, grabbed that table and....

Installed some new BB's, still need some dust covers...

And she talked me into buying her some new shoes...

(Don't tell her I get em for a bargain at the local trailer builders place)

There was another trailer sitting near by with what looked like an Islander sitting on it. I could tell that nobody was using it so I grabbed my tools - swiped the winch and bow stop off and installed em here on the Jet trailer...

Another hot one today here in the middle of the mitt.

Cheers!:)

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Trailer looks great, but the heat kept me doing easy things today, like mowing the lawn and getting stung by yellow jackets. I envy you guys with your fancy-shmancy painted trailers :D, but mine is galvanized so I'm going to leave it alone. Painted has a little more class.

Seeing your winch makes me think to ask, how precise do you have to be lining up the winch when using a strap? Mine looks just the slightest bit off, but the strap gets to doubling over and bunching up on one side. My other trailer has a rope, so I don't have that problem. I'm going to try to align it a little better, but it will involve some messing around using a washer for a shim on one side, I think.

My strap is a hot mess all the time. Causes me no issues.

That winch looks like it just found a new home. When you get back to working on the islander buy a two speed winch. It will make your life much easier getting that big girl back on the trailer.

I had 83 degrees this morning at 7:30 when I went out to mow the grass, but at least there was a nice breeze. Keep up the good work, there's still a chance I'll see you out on the Bay yet this year. Theres good fishing still to come.

click my link to see what i did on the splash well,i have shorten the well and still ok for my 50 hp to tilite.
the 20gal onboard gas tank look's too big on this boat, mine have a 15 gal with the 50hp on back seem stern heavy,if you use 50 hp ,put the tank to bow area,50hp is powerful enough to lift the bow.

Poor Islander. ;)

Spose I otta make it up to her some how:rolleyes:

Nah, don't bother. No winch means she is all but scrap value now:eek:

how precise do you have to be lining up the winch when using a strap? Mine looks just the slightest bit off, but the strap gets to doubling over and bunching up on one side.

Well, I suppose for the most part I try to keep my cranking to a minimum - just a couple of feet really. Things don't seem to get too bad on me for just a couple of feet, eh.

Keep up the good work, there's still a chance I'll see you out on the Bay yet this year. Theres good fishing still to come.

Yah, I'd love it! My worry is that the completion date for this Jet might be butting up pretty close to bow season so I'll have to make some good choices as I go along.

put the tank to bow area,50hp is powerful enough to lift the bow.

Yah I actually just grabbed a pair of 6 gal tanks and my plan (at the moment) is for them to be housed in the bow bench that I plan to build.

Thanks for stopping in guys!:D

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Quick update...

Wrapped and installed the bunks...
P1060500.jpg

Installed the safety chains and new jack...
P1060501.jpg

Ran the wiring and bolted on the new LED's...
P1060502.jpg

All that's left is to pay the Sec. of State her dues to make this trailer legal and bolt up some guide on's (do that once the boat is sitting on there) and this trailer is done!:D
