I think it looks good from here. I've tried in the past and never had any luck getting angle to bend around the inside of anything so great progress.

Lookin' good. Ditto the Dollar store noodles. Can't beat a buck each ;) They usually have a big old box of them out in front of the store in my neck of the woods. You should be able to get all you need for $20.

It depends how thick the metal is to. Thin metal is WAY easier to create a smooth radius. An english wheel would be ideal here, it kind of stretches the metal to make the radius.

Yah, that was 1/16" thick. Actual metal working tools would have been very helpful:redface:

From someone who dabbles in aluminum fab work I would say you've done well so far. When you pull the rest in its going to look great!

Thanks man, hoping it will look aok once it's all said and done. The fish should at least see something nice before they get tossed into the ice box anyway.

I was sweating, straining and grunting all the while trying to get that thing to bend and not crease. Patience big time! I just hope I can do the same on the other side:facepalm:

I fit 72 in my SS! (obviously less under deck space in Jas' little jet though)

Yah, we'll see what is laying around the house here that can float;)

'cause noodles taste better!

I really like lasagna, can I stuff some of that under there?

Well guys, for that last two days I have been at the helm of a floor sander. So I really needed a change of scenery. I walked out to where the Jet was sitting (thrown out of the garage as that is where all our furniture is at the moment)....

...and stared for just a couple of minutes. That was today's progress.

Then, I went inside to sand more hardwood.

I'm a firm believer that staring at your boat occasionally is progress good work:D

These are big projects. A considerable amount of staring is absolutely required.

Jas, Doesn't look like carp from my laptop. I'm paying close attention to this one. I've wanted to pull or shorten my splash well on the jet for years. You're right they're too big.

Just bought a Jet Star Friday that I think may be 1950s. It looks the same, except the bottom is aluminum and the top is red, also it originally had a rack on the front. It seems to be in very good shape minus everything that is not metal, in other words you have a similar start. There is no windshield and the rack up front is missing but I do love the design. Good luck and let me know if you know where to get parts. I will put pictures on from home.

Totally agree fellas, staring is juat about the most important part of the rebuild process eh!:D

Yah, wouldn't that be a kick!

The Jet was ejected from the garage for about a weeks time while I refinish the all the hardwood floors in the house. I tossed it on the big tandem axle utility trailer to quick move it out.

Yah, photo is a little deceptive. It doesn't look that great right now but I'll get back on it and clean er up.

On the splashwell, check this out...

I was driving along and spotted this Alumicraft for sale along the side of the road, snapped a few photos.

I wasn't really thinking of a mini splashwell like that up there ^^^^ but I supose it could be an option too.

That 4 Stroke OB was huge for a 30hp, about as big (maybe bigger) than my 50 Johnson...

Kinda sora thinking something similar to this for my console...

Welcome hammond! Swing by the Starcraft forum and say hello to the guys! Be sure to post up photos of yur new rig, that would be the safe thing to do;)

Sorry man, Jet had to take a back seat for at least a few days while I finish up massive construction zone in the house.

I did end up selling some more boat gear yesterday including that alum 20 gal tank. So, it looks like I'll be going with a pair of 6 gal portables after all. Changes up my design layout just a little.:)

That is a nifty little spalshwell in that alumicraft must sit a little lower at the front than the SC's do in order to let the motor tilt all the way up ? I don't know how much space it really gains though as in that case bat and fuel tank are in the way anyway kind of nice to have that stuff and wiring hiding under the splashwell.

Yah, good point there yoop. I'll stew about that splashwell a little:rolleyes: more to see what I come up with.

Disregard my tank link up there, those guys are bogus. They canceled my order (after payment was made) as they said they didn't charge me enough for shipping.

I said "Why don't you just follow with the quote/order I already made payment on?"

His reply "There is no sense in arguing, your order is cancelled."

Okeedooke.:mad::rolleyes:

And I thought I was the only one who considered staring progress. I feel a lot better now. Almost like going to Starer's Anonymous.

If you add up all the stupid ideas that we've had...and discarded due to staring at the boat exposing weaknesses in the approach that's a lot of time and money saved:D

Jason that Alumacraft splashwell is nice, I like the smaller design.

There is a nice Lund resto in the completed projects forum that had one very similar, probably worth checking out he did a nice job.

Jason - sorry the tank deal fell through, like the guy couldn't suck up the difference in shipping. The link you had says it's no longer available blah blah blah. No idea what you tried to spend your hard earned cash on , but look at Amazon, plenty with free shipping http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_4_20?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=fuel+tanks+for+boats&sprefix=fuel+tanks+for+boats

And don't forget our buddies at the iboats store, they have good deals sometimes.
