Went over yesterday before the Commanders game to grind down the one side of the bottom of the hull with 40 grit and angle grinder. Grind down the hull inner chines where the deck will come in contact with the hull. Smooth out my rough edges of 1708 i put down and grind down the old thicken resin from the old deck. I will fine tune it with my Makita with some 40 and then 80 grit where I can get in the tight space better. I did put a small gash in the chine that went through the hull. You can see it toward the transom about a foot or 2 forward. No worries just got me thinking is this hull that dam thin or was I not paying attention to the colors I was grinding. Well it will be fixed either way a layer of 1708 up the side will take care of it. As with the bottom of the hull, the 2 chines will get 2 layers of 1708 once preped. I will get the other side sometime this week.
That turned out nice! Can always fix the "whoops". Getting cold up here now, so time to do my last winter escapade work in the boat. Get the cover on and heater in place. Rest of my time has been late fall gardening and holiday distraction. Oh yea bought an old lawn tractor I got running with a snow blade. That is a fun little project.
That being said Happy Thanksgiving and a Great Christmas D.

I am going to add another 4x4 post midway on my carport since I only used 2x4 instead of a 2x6 as the hanger. I might do the same this winter KC cover up a section and bring in my space heater to do the glass work. I will try these chines section by section maybe and if they turn out okay then I will not let the cold stop me. Other than that it will just be prep work for me.

I just planted 4 potatoes 2 each in 10 gallon fabric container. Never grew them before. I had one in the window all summer rooting as I wanted to give it a try. That will be my gardening for the winter.

Same to you buddy hope all is going well. Talk to you soon.

One question I did have. I do plan on sanding the bottom of the boat and adding a layer of CSM. Should I turn it over after I get the stringers installed and attached to the transom or would it be better doing it before installation? Or does it matter? I know it will be a bit heavier with the stringers and bulks and it would make it more solid when turned. Let me know.

I've used heat lamps too to focus in on areas to cure in the cold. So I would do the inside hull first then flip. Exterior will go fast.

Sound good I never looked at it that way. Bottom we just need to decide on what color and prep he surface.

The heat lamps can I use those cheap metal ones like these 2 or 3. I suppose its all on the bulb.

I was thinking I would need one of those $100 dollar shop heat lamps with legs etc. I suppose let the surface get at least 75 degree before glassing. Funny thing I keep my MEKP in the refrigerator, that must be a no no for the winter. Let me know never did winter glassing before.

Yesterday went over to add 2 more 4x4 post to my shed to prepare for snow this winter. Added it to the mid section on each side and it made it even more stable. Connected it with (3) 5" lag screws at the top in a triangle shape. Hammered down the green 4x4 post stake that goes 31" into the ground then tighten it up with 2 carriage bolts lock washer and nut to clamp the bottom together.

I might wrap it with one of these I saw on amazon for $53 8x20 24 ml thick. Add some foam at the top and it will be almost sealed. I am facing the east so winds come from the front mostly. Big mail truck parked next to me that is taller than my shed.
Why are these so cheap and to have one made for the boat is 1k or more.

Keeping busy!
Your boat should fit inside that house just fine! LOL!
This the pic I got. Is it a pool tarp?
Temu sun shades are pretty cheap also.

Yeah I am trying.
Temu actually has it for 39.99. As I look at it again it not that thick as I thought. Also thinking about the cost of the 4x8 foam sheets I would nail to the top at least (6) @ $50 a pop. Its adding up! The actual curtains will run about (2) @ $100 for 8'x16' sides and (2) @ $60 8'x12' front and rear.
I think I will wait until next winter to build out the shed if I am not finished by the fall next year.

Yup it always adds up. I like temu so far but read all the small print. I always cross reference price to AmaBeezo.

Went over for an hour yesterday to string a line for the deck height. I realized the original deck sat just below the chines not on them. I measured 2" below the chine all the way to the front and space them about 1-1.5ft or about.

I was thinking about glassing some small wood cleats to replace the tape locations. Odd angle to cut a small piece of wood to stick to the hull. That would allow me to make sure each side is level with its counter part. Then I can justify stringer and bulkheads height.

Looks to me you could just template and run full pc. of wood instead of pcs.
I might be misunderstanding your pic?

Yeah I thought about adding the whole piece wood after looking at the photo more. I just figured it would be less resin I would have to get to cure in the cold if it was just mounting smaller pieces. I dont know what to expect glassing in the winter. Its new to me same principal just new step. Mainly the cleat would be for mounting the deck and to get the heights of the stringers and bulkheads as I move up.

Each piece of tape will render a different height for the stringers and bulkhead. Same for the deck as the middle part of the boat the deck gets wider. I was going to hot glue horizontal pieces of wood shims fitting to each cleat. That would give the shape of the deck also as I move up and the shape of the stringers underneath. I would need to number the pieces that connect to the cleats and trace/measure them on the the piece of wood for the deck.

The deck is wider than 4ft in the middle so I would need to piece it together anway.

Might be easier to just put some thicken resin instead of wood and shape it. about 1 1.5 inches or make a lip with some 1708. I see it would be hard to cut a chip of wood to shape level on the hull.

Revisiting pic you sent. What about a pc. of quarter round with the curve on the hull of the boat, then glassed.
Looks like it would fit right in there.

Good idea, I have a piece in the basement left over from my floors. I will go over and dry fit and see. I was thinking since it was not plywood I should not use. Since its not being used as a support brace 100% it will be good if it works.

Here is a pic of how the old floor was. It had a base board going around it glued to the chine. I order 2 pack of heat bulbs and 1 more heat lamp this morning. Should arrive by the Friday so I will try to glass some sections and see how it goes.
