I know I am extremely late to the party, but just wanted to stop by and say your Jet Star turned out really well. Its one of my favorites. You did a great job and its even better that have such a great place to enjoy it.

The bolts are 3/8".

My mistake, they are 1/2". I found a set of assembly instructions for my model on line.

Pmccraney, thanks for the comments! Feels good when somebody enjoys such a large chunk of my efforts, it felt like it was taking forever at times.

Just make sure you bring your Blue Flamingo, we'll be the talk of the town. You can bet there will be some binoculars trained on us from shore!

The place has been in the family since 1956, one year less than I have been in the family. Believe me, I know how lucky I am! Currently co-own with my brother & sister, it gets a lot of use. The people on the lake do their best to protect & conserve the area. One thing that's cool is we have 1 or 2 loon families every summer with chicks, it's great to watch them feed, grow & fly off in the fall.

A little more work on the lift, making new carpeted cradle boards. Pretty easy, a PT 2x6x8 did it. I cut the pieces out, drilled the bolt holes & countersunk for the carriage bolt heads, then cut the carpet pieces out & nailed them on with galv. roofing nails. I bought a piece of 3x4 runner carpet at HD, same as I used on my trailer bunks about 8 years ago and it's still holding up. Cheap too.

I just stuck them on and I'll have to adjust with the boat on, esp. the stern, as the hull is very flat there.

Oh yeah, and some conveyor belt rubber from Tractor Supply everywhere the wood is against the aluminum.

Now on to painting the bathroom.

The lift is equipped with a head? LOL Looks good, LL. Do you think the PT will cause probs with the AL?

Sorry, I should have been clear: the bathroom is on the Long Overdue list. I've run out of excuses on that.:)

With the rubber barrier, I don't think the PT will be a problem. It has not affected my SF14 over the last 8 years, that carpet is over PT with no barrier.

Yup, I couldn't call it a Honey Do list because I've really got it pretty good in that area, pretty much left to my own devices!

Re: 1964 15' Starcraft Aluminum Runabout Project

More lift work....

I took off the temporary repair and made something a little more solid and permanent with 1-1/2" angle aluminum from Lowe's, some SS nuts & bolts from www.Boltdepot.com, and a little 1/8" aluminum plate left over from the transom plate. Total cost = under $30.

I noticed while I was drilling that the lift aluminum is quite a bit softer than the other stuff I used.

Yesterday, I ordered a Taylor Made Semi-Custom Boat Cover and a fiberglass support bow. I'll see how that fits when it arrives.

Before: Once I got the stuff off, the damage was a little worse than I had realized.

Here I hadn't looked into this thread for awhile since I thought it was all done.

Nice repair job on the lift, I'm sure it'll be a great addition to your slice of heaven.

Re: 1964 15' Starcraft Aluminum Runabout Project

Yup, not a whole lot going on. Got to take it apart next for transport to the lake, I figure I can break it down into 8 pieces that will fit on my trailer. That should be interesting. Also gathering parts to make a removeable wheel kit for putting in & taking out.

I figure I'll add a bit now and then to the thread as things come up.

Getting there - just waiting for some warmer weather now, currently no heat or water hooked up at the lake.

Still waiting for a set of 24" wheels to come in, found a great deal with free shipping.:) Just hope they get here before September!!

Every bolt I took out except maybe 1 or 2 broke, so ordered new SS that should arrive today.
