Great looking, are you sure it was your son the burned all that fuel?

BTW: I couldn't see a single scratch or scuff in that video...

:D Ha! Usually I run it around 1000-1500 rpm myself...

As far as detail, you can't see much in any videos made with my camera! My son ran into the dock and scratched the bow a little, and I'll be posting pictures of that here and probably in the thread that talks about Easypoxy. I just didn't want to rush right up with my camera as soon as he did that, he felt kinda embarrassed about it anyway.

Looking good!

How do you like the 1964 Jetstar ride in rough water :)

I find it hurts, but I finally got the idea and started slowing it down when the water gets choppy.

I managed to shake my windshield loose twice now, locktite... need some
Glad I put everything else together with nylock nuts...

Love that ride, I'm actually pretty surprised at how smooth it is. Now a couple big wake waves at full tilt, that's fun, but pretty tough on the spine (according to my wife). So I'm learning to throttle back a little.

I haven't had a problem with my windshield yet. The brackets are mounted to the deck and backed by small pieces of 1/2" thick oak, and I used this kind of nut:

Re: 1964 15' Starcraft Aluminum Runabout Project

Just a little update for the archives....

Last season there were a couple things I didn't have that I really missed: A place to quickly throw my sunglasses where they wouldn't slide overboard or end up on the floor, and storage accessible quickly from the helm. So I spent a little time this spring fixing that.

I came across a storage pocket for the sunglasses at Pep Boys & made an aluminum bracket to mount it on, it just fit:

I made a couple storage cubbies for under the seat and just got them in today. They're made from 1/2" exterior ply, sealed up with Rustoleum marine primer and Professional gray paint. It just happens to be an exact match colorwise to the Rusto Marine Topside paint. I made brackets out of aluminum.

In place, just the right size for camera, binoculars and whatever else. There is indoor-outdoor carpet from Home Depot on the floor of each box, same stuff as I have on my bunks.

I needed to drill into the seat boards from underneath to attach the brackets, and came across this little baby from Harbor Freight, it worked great!

A mini ratchet also came in handy. The angle chuck was only $16 with an online coupon I found. A lot of the reviews said it didn't last, but they were drilling wiring holes in studs mostly with spade bits. It worked great for my light duty job, and I figured if it even only worked a little while, it would be worth it. I could only use 2 out of 3 of the screws on the top bracket, as it wouldn't squeeze in the 5" clearance under the back of the seat board, but anything up to that it was fine.

In use:

Looking forward to seeing how it all works out this summer!

Another tweak for my addiction: It's usually not easy to find help every year on my schedule when I want to level the boat lift or dock, so I shopped around for a lift jack. The price of $200-250 scared me away so I got to thinking I could make one a lot cheaper.

Commercial version:

My version (materials cost = $85, time about 1/2 day):

Mine has advantages and disadvantages..it's 8' tall so it can used in deeper water more easily. On the minus side, it weighs 34 lbs. That's where some nice, cheap aluminum box beam would have come in handy! Now to see if/how it works!

Re: 1964 15' Starcraft Aluminum Runabout Project

Update on the lift jack: Took it to the lake and tried it out...had trouble with the cable not wanting to wind & unwind, it kept binding up. So I replaced the cable with some 1/2" thick woven poly rope and about 3' of chain on the end. Then gave it a shot and it worked like a charm! I was able to level the lift by myself in about 10 minutes; then set about leveling the entire (wood) dock in another 10. A great labor-saver! Still considering whether to cut down the total height of the pipe to lighten it up a bit, but kind of like the height for deeper water use.

And after a great day on the water:

Holding up great. I was very nervous, what with all the turmoil about Pettit Easypoxy, but I have to say that I'm finding it to be pretty tough. I admit to being careful in general, but am not a fanatic about it. I've banged it a number of times with tools, equipment, gas can etc. and felt sure it would chip or scratch, but so far, so good! I was thinking back today during my trip home about all the help & advice you gave me to "shepherd" me thru my first paint job! Always grateful for that.
