I was without a car a lot too when we had an Impala. :p

Let's give this poor car a break, it's given us 190,000 miles so far! Gotta tell you, I like this 02 better than the 06 we got last spring. In the 02, I can get 32+mpg on a trip, can't touch that with the newer one.

This is also in the "Official Starcraft Rubrail Thread": http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=501999 but I wanted to add it here too.

It might be helpful if you need dimensions or are looking for a substitute or an alternate source. That's the official Starcraft part number.

I'm just giving you heck. Yeah I know a number of people with the old style ones who got great service from them although it kinda seems like you either got a gem or a lemon with nothing in between with those. My '07 was a disaster and that 3.5 engine was crap. Not too quick and fuel economy sucked. My new Fusion isn't breaking any records fuel economy-wise but damn is it FAST!!! :D:D

Last Impala I owned was a 76 not much gas mileage but was built like a tank. Hope Yours gets fixed soon My tow vehicle is also broken but no danger of needing it for a splash anytime soon. Looking forward to the splash.

I knew that! It does seem like they are an all or nothing deal.

I've been lucky wiht that platform so far, got 209,000 from my '96 Lumina & my son got 200,000 from his '99. The 3.5 in our 06 is pretty snappy, but the gas mileage is horrible. And another thing that really pisses me off no end is how there are no key holes in the passenger door or trunk. My wife carries the only RC key fob we have, so I always have to unlock the driver's door with my key, then release either the trunk or door locks from inside. A real impractical time-waster. Also hate the tiny mirrors on the doors after driving the older style with the gigantic mirrors. We'll keep our fingers crossed on the new one.:rolleyes:

Yooper, those old ones are a different vehicle entirely as you know. Built like tanks as you say. The only thing they have in common with the newer ones is the name badge.

It's killing me to have the boat sitting there looking at me as I watch this week of fantastic weather slip away - sunny, calm and in the 50's every day. Tomorrow looks good too, hope they finish the car today.

My car was Buick Regals. Had a '91, '95, and an '00. Wonderful cars and the 3800 was fantastic. Really wanted to get a newer supercharged one but it just never happened. The new Regals are cool but they're euro-cars and all are spiffed up 4 cyls. And don't even get me started on my pile of old Cutlass Cieras and Centurys. All great cars that were uber cheap to fix. I used to be a die-hard GM guy. When I drove the Fusion over to show my dad he said "you are aware that this is a Ford right?" :p

Sounds like it's a good thing you didn't show up in a Honda or VW. My Dad, being a wounded WWII (Battle of the Bulge) vet, almost disowned me when I bought a new '70 Bug. Took a lot of talking as to why I got a former enemies product. Next I bought an AMC car built in Canada. At least it had American in the name and was an ally.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 50. North wind between 5 and 13 mph.

I don't know how the big 3 have gotten away with building cars the way they have for this many years now. Surprised GM is still around actually. Ford has always seemed to be the best built in cars and trucks.
