by the time I get 4 of the single fold-downs, I'll be in the $500 range anyway
Here are details of my straight transom at the corners.
What makes me think Alberrts boat must be original like that is the fact the transom aluminum skin itself looks like one piece . On yours Lakelover to copy Alberts you will have a seam of some sort on the transom unless you totally remake the trnsom skin which I would think would be one heck or alot of work.

I also had similar nails holding on trim on the side panels, but mine were stainless, maybe factory changed materials by 1968?
I noticed that you got a boat with a West Bend 50 hp outboard. I live in Paraguay (South America) and have one like that. It runs very good but I need a Propeller. May you know where I could find one that fit?
And if you want to get red of it (outboard), let me know, I see the way to get it down her.
Just came across your thread lakelover....nice ride!
I have a Jet as well and have really enjoyed the project...so far
I didn't have to replace my transom, so I can't speak to your immediate questions, but it does raise a question about how the motor will be placed and whether that will impact center of gravity/weight and how it performs. Is there a particular reason you want to have a higher transom? Just curious.
I know with mine it is a delicate balance and I have the cutout version of the transom. My boat pops up on plane quickly (1961 Johnson 40HP) and can be "slippery" in a straight line. I think these Jets have a very low profile compared to some of the others (Holiday, Jupiter, etc...).
Just something to consider. Good luck with your project.
If you're interested in selling your steering wheel let me know. I'm in the hunt for a vintage wheel and not having much luck.
