I would put the roving in the middle, but I don't have that much experience with it....seems like I was always fighting with it!

Haha I hear ya'! The CSM likes to pull apart and the roving likes to fall all over itself!

Just got back from picking up the seats at Walmart. I had to piece one together in the cubical. Got some strange looks from my co-workers lol.

Got the seats put together. Taking a break from the hull work tonight I've been at it everyday since last Friday. These are cool because they pull out one way. My old Bayliner seats pulled out both ways and crammed your face under the steering wheel. I measured the hull and the spacing is roughly what it will look like in the boat. I was expecting a lesser quality for the price and was pleasantly surprised. They are built well, the plastic base is heavy duty.

Re: 1964 Arkansas Traveler Restoration

what brand are they? Did you say walmart?

They are the Wise Deluxe lounge seats. I used Walmart's site to store option and it saved me $75 in shipping compared to other places.

Just finished cutting down the channels. The Arjay will have to wait until next weekend. Happy Easter everyone.

Re: 1964 Arkansas Traveler Restoration

Thanks brother. :) It's turning out pretty good. I wish I would have done the corners with the rest of it but I was nervous that the resin would seep into the joints where the 2x6's met and I would have had to grind the form out. So I'm going to make small T joints with 2x6's to complete the unfinished areas. I was thinking of filleting the corners of the T joint with wood filler to make it easier to apply the glass. Does anyone know if I can wax the wood filler fillets the same as the 2x6's? Or any other recommendations to make this last part easy?

Here's what I'm talking about. Need to figure out how to make the fillets "waxable."

You are using poly right? just wrap the whole thing in packing tape, works great. It should slide right out.

How comfortable are those seats? I keep going back-in-forth on the seats, do I buy the ones you bought or the designer ones that wise also makes. The designer seats look more comfortable but they are about $100.00 more per seat:eek:.

Thanks

Dave

I've had both. The ones Mr. Clown has are pretty comfortable and held up well for the 5 years I had them in my last boat. Still looking good when I sold it. For the new one, I briefly had these in my posession http://www.iboats.com/Wise-Deluxe-S...7883179--**********.129492833--view_id.374754 and they were considerably nicer. (I didn't end up having room for them and had to swap them for buckets from the same line). However, the bases are vinyl wrapped on the upscale ones and I think I'd prefer the straight plastic of the cheaper ones for durability.

They are pretty firm right now but just need to be broken in. Even if they didn't soften up, they are very comfortable. I laid down on them for about 10 minutes along with the wife and we both like them as is. :)

Yep, exactly. I don't have a frame on the bottom of the windshield. So the deck channel gets T-bolted to the bow, snap in the windshield, peel back the front flap, rivet the windshield to the cap, the flap then covers the rivets, and we're in there like swimwear.

I saw those too. Only reason I didn't go that route is they are an inch wider than mine and it's going to be a tight fit as it is.
