Re: 1964 Arkansas Traveler Restoration

I got the itch to see if the cap would fit back on. The transom was around 1/4" thicker than original so I had to cut the lip of the splashwell. But other than that it snapped right back into place. Most of my tools are at the new house so I might move the boat over there next weekend once the garage is converted back into a garage.

Well HI! It's been a long time since I have been on the radar. :) Almost finished with the house remodel and we have been living there since last September. Then I had knee surgery and I'm still limpin' around. But the boat itch is back in full swing and I plan to dust off the old tools and start back in on this project. Just wanted to say hello and hope everyone's projects are coming along nicely. Or probably finished by now. :)

I wondered where you vanished to- I hoped that you weren't one of the many that 'burn out' on these projects!

Nice job on the house- Did you do that yourself?? If so, I can't wait to see the boat done :)

Hey Andgott, good to hear from you!

Yep, we did it all ourselves. Saving a tone of cash on labor allowed us to upgrade other areas.

Here's the fireplace upgrade. http://www.diychatroom.com/f49/old-brick-fireplace-revamp-124913/

I need to figure out the shelf life of the this Arjay. It's never been opened and I'm wondering if it's still good to go for the stringers. That might have been a $300 oops.

Seriously, Thats some mighty fine Remodeling Clown. Your better half must be a heck of a worker. Mine is a great Order Giver and Paint Picker Outer but that's about it. Good to see you back. You'll still prolly be done before me!!!!!!

Arch and Wood! Just seeing your names makes my arms itch. :D Yeah the wife primed and painted the whole house and took a million loads of crap to the dump. She's a 5' 2" Italian maniac. As far as what I did the next day.....I took a nap. LOL

No, you're not hallucinating...the boat saw sunshine again after over a year in a dark and dusty garage. :)

Re: 1964 Arkansas Traveler Restoration

Last night I broke out the stinky and through down some csm and cloth to finish connecting the front of the stringers to the bulkhead. I also made t-joints wrapped in packing tape to finish building the stringer channels in the back that connect to the side of the hull. My 5 gallon bucket of Arjay is long since expired, but the cost has come down a little so that helps. My goal is to have the stringers poured, capped and complete by the end of this month. Once the deck is finally in, it should come together pretty quick.

Hi guys,

So it's been a few years since I've been on here. The economy hit me pretty hard back then and I ended up selling the boat. The great news is he finished it in a few weeks and sent me some pics of it splashed. Then he sold it a couple weeks later. It's pretty satisfying seeing the finished product floating knowing how sound it is underneath. I ended up picking up an 04 Crownline last year and am now floating myself. :) I want to thank everyone who helped me with this project along the way, it would have been scrapped without the iBoats community. I hope you are all doing well!

Kris
