The edges and under side have matching color stain and spar not the DA. The biggest problem with the material is that it takes a long time cure properly before it becomes tough.

Everything on a boat gets really warm in direct sun but carpet is the worst. I used Rusto deck armor on my SeaNymph this is the 3rd summer for it. Looks like new after swabbing it down.
Its been 'so long' and the Chief turned out so great, I completely forgot you used that DO stuff the Nymph....

Still looks great

A bit of work - quite hot and the wind gets blocked by the fence so only morning and late afternoon (shade) work.

pulled all the staples out and will be taking to the upholstery shop today.

all out. Looks good under there just a couple drips when i filled it up. I did notice a high water mark on the seat bases. It wasn't pretty - at least once it was full.

Wait, what, there was a pool behind the fence? Dang, i'll have to bring a speedo the next time i swing by :)

Yeah, no ^^^

Hull looks great, if only some of the other tin restos ended up so clean and tidy after removing the deck and debris.

Excellent

I'm going to wash my brain out to get rid of that image....

Yeah like I mentioned earlier I think it led a nice happy life probably until a couple years ago.

It is sort of up to the look you want and whether you think you'll ever need to pull 1 section to access below decks.

Wrap before installation individually leaves the rivets exposed

Deck laid then covered w vinyl buries the rivets....

Both have been done numerous times.

Ordered the nautolex from Great Lakes Skipper, even cheaper than Defender so was able to get 2 day shipping for same overall price however they do not seem to sell the glue so question is can I use regular contact cement or other floor adhesive from Home Depot?

Any chance I can convince you to go sheet foam from HD/Lowes instead of the noodles? Keep them for excess flotation in above the waterline places like the gunwales.......... IMO, noodles aren't a good choice, except instead of none.

As for the glue, I think Weldwood has been used. But DON'T hold me to that. I do think the solvent based was preferred even w/ the nasty fumes to deal with.

noodles are mostly cut up so sticking with them - what is your reasoning? Ive decided to wrap each floor peice individually so if needed in a few years I can pull up.

I'll read up on the Weldwood stuff at HD. this is 90% an outdoor project so fumes not too much of a worry, plus doing sections will limit exposure

They dont resist water as well as the sheet foam, esp below decks. For you in Tn, it isnt as 'bad' and having meet you, I suspect you'll be diligent @ water below decks getting out w bow high, plug out, covered....

They don't float as much as most think, per square inch of foam, esp round w a hole down the center.

k i'll keep an eye on them and yes i absolutely keep bow up, even when in the barn (which is where is will live).

Just did a bunch of reading on the weldwood and not a whole lot of 'i used it 5 years ago' (other than a tin boat forum where jigngrub had posted) but in any of the discussions it comes back to stapling underneath as the main driver of long term success. Since I'm doing that, and can recover in a couple years if needed; going cheap and local on the glue and will be ready to do in two days when the flooring gets here. Got all the pieces cut this morning. Sure is nice having patterns

Ok, 4 hours of conference calls starting in a few - i'll be checking in here during the boring parts.

I think one of the guys said the noodles start to disintegrate after a while, too. Like JB said, the foam sheets give more flotation. It works out to about 50% more over noodles with the hole and round shape .

which foam sheets (Home Depot only in my town)

Question on budgets. Does buying a tool count towards the budget. I promised the wife I'd stay 10% to budget. Of course the biggest cost is going to be the motor and I think @ $1700 I'm high so can make up there.

Just took a sheet of plywood back. $24 back to my running total...

I've always said that tools and equipment puchased for projects should not be counted as part of the project budjet. Any tool or piece of equipment I buy is only improving my net worth and total value as a good worker/father/husband.:D Thankfully my Admiral feels the same way.:encouragement:

Yes I am. Lucky man.:becky:

By the way what type of glue did you decide on? I'm trying to figure out what to use on the carpet for my casting deck. It is plywood sealed with spar varnish.
