Great looking boat RNJ, a mid to late 80's Yamaha 85-90 horse 3cyl would be perfect for her, same HP as the Johnny but 45 lbs lighter.

Big, heavy, cool arse Tower of Power 6cyl. I'd bet it's nearly twice as heavy as the Yamaha mentioned above.

1.5X as heavy as the Yammy w T&T...

Not to talk you out of it, but since it's not a show boat in need of a vintage OB, and is meant as a fix and go boating/fishing rig, is a 1967 OB a great 1st choice? Which is really out of character advice from me, given the motors I've got and esp the one I had you grab.....

A running 950 Merc for $750 w/ controls and harness is certainly not out of line, IMO, but price a distributor cap... ouch, if you can find one.....

well sir in my defence I did put up a couple SC down in ATL since I've been back on CL looking for an engine. I know, minimal defence but it is something...

So compression should be about 120? Also all are these 4 cyl johhnyrudes the same (roughly) weight from the 88 to the 140? I've found a couple OK deals on 140's and I know that will be 'too much' but I know how to control my right hand.

ok might have a line on a 90 etac, with boat and kicker. At first I thought it was a scam and was going to have fun with it and post on my other forum (I tend to get tough with them so rated PG-13 and above usually) but maybe not. Cannot find multiple listings on CL around the country and 'she' replied to be telling me we can deal face to face on the boat she got in the divorce. fingers crossed - the asking is less than just the 90 so I can flip the rest.

next item for discussion is floor covering. I'm wanting stuff like this (I think tnstrat used on his last flip boat?) but out of stock. anything similar here on iboats before i shop the whole internets?

Had a thought while taking a break from finishing up the floor removal. The wood is really in pretty decent shape and rather than replace (or even if I do) and do not want to mess with the vinyl - what about that 'Deck Over' stuff? Just saw an ad on TV for it. Would that work? Be cheaper and don't have to worry about lines in the vinyl if I don't install correctly. Had a buddy on my other forum do his deck a couple years ago and was satisfied.

one maybe 2 gallons so $80 total.

Prep is key, like many things. Over old wood, even more so, and might be tougher to get 100%. Jasoutside did his islander before the scalping, and I dont think its seen water or service yet...

I had posted last summer a question about using the deckover to coat the boards on one of my utility trailers. Most of the people who replied were very dissatisfied with the results, and it apparently doesn't really hold up very well. I asked because I thought if it would work for a deck outside you would think it would be okay for a trailer or a boat deck. Woodonglass I believe had tried it and didn't have a good review of the product, and I tend to feel his input is rock solid because of his dedication to researching wood preservatives.

I used some of that on an old fishing boat a few years ago. It sticks really well and has a good non slip surface. The one caveat is that it gets really warm in the sun.

Everything on a boat gets really warm in direct sun but carpet is the worst. I used Rusto deck armor on my SeaNymph this is the 3rd summer for it. Looks like new after swabbing it down. It's dirty in this pic and still looks clean.
