Last couple afternoons I threw together a motor stand . Never built one for an inboard . I basically just matched the stringer/motor mounts that were in the boat . That way I should be able to run it with the carb level . Thought it was a good idea I guess .
Nice work on the motor stand. When I had my Merc 454 out of the boat, I just threw a couple of cinder blocks on a dolly for the engine to rest on and hoped that it did not take off when I started it :ROFLMAO:

I’m debating on degreasing and pressure washing the bilge before flip as much as possible. I won’t know really how much bottom wood be replaced . You can tell this is the original bottom . It still has the gazzilion tiny screws through the top of the inner boards that help the bottom boards from the edges cupping out . I’ve all but decided to do the 5200 bottom. I could leave the inner planks if good or remove and use plywood for the base . Keeping original would be great but maybe not practical. I probably won’t be entering this thing in any judged events so not overly concerned in originality.

Sam whats the 5200 bottom mean?
It’s what they call a no soak bottom . Originally the bottoms had a layer of canvas soaked with some type bedding/ lead compound in between the liner and outer bottom planks . That layer basically kept the hull from leaking temporarily until the boards swelled up to stop most of the bottom from leaking .
The 3m 5200 replaces that canvas layer . Every bottom plank will be completely bedded in with 5200 .

Being a trailered boat I feel this is the best option . If it was moored for a season then The traditional type bottom would be ok . They have the West system that some use epoxy. Leaning away from that .. Most wood boat shops do the 5200 ..

Well , that answers this question.
The cool looking glassparest resembling fins on the sides are fiberglass and foam filled .

Getting set to flip guys . Running the method through my head .. Watching videos and whatnot ..
Thing on rigging from the center like in the picture and letting it kinda slide around . May have to rig something to help pull it over once it’s on its side .
Or I could get 2 more chain hoist and lift one side while lowering the other then vise versa to complete the flip . Any thoughts ? This will be he biggest flip for me yet . Feel free to tell me “hey , don’t do that your gunna kill somebody “ or “ hey , your about to F up and end up with a pile of mangled mahogany splinters on the floor ! “ Lol !
I know I’m gunna be a nervous wreck till I get it secured . LOL !
We’ll call this a mini milestone..
I’m really kinda exited to get started on the bottom !

Hey Sam,
Not much help but you sure have all the rigging in place to ease this
task. probably lift it up and get the trailer out of the wat. Some manpower and a flat surface to place the turnover on.
You got it Poppy! Slow and easy. Manpower is the trick here.

So we got our first look see under the hood … Yep definitely the original bottom . First look at the chine / outside frame rails is very promising! The area of normal concern looks great .. The bow area where you would think would be ok , looks a little suspect..
