Well guys I told myself if the right boat came along , specifically an inboard wooden classic , I was gunna jump in it . Bucket list you could say .. This is not the rarest of rare but I absolutely love the lines of this boat . It’s small enough to pull with our Durango but big enough to be comfortable in . The open or utility style cockpit makes it nice to move around in .
It’s has the 283 CC / Chevy inboard in it . The structure is sound but does have a few issues to deal with . I need to replace 1 main stringer where it has some rot at the motor mount location . From everywhere I have poked and prodded on the hull she seems pretty tight . The stem beam seems ok from what I can tell . There was one cracked rib that someone scabbed a repair piece on . The interior needs complete redone and the original steering wheel is toast .
I’m sure it’s gunna take a few years to complete .. Ok here is some pics !

Nice boat Sam

check over that SBC. after this many years, there will most likely be some significant rust in the water jacket.

Yeah KC , I have seen those . The inside is gutted out atm . Not much to see . I definitely will check out all the images that are available to try and restore as close to original as possible . Color will change though in the vinyl . It’s Florida . No way I’m installing black as per original… LOL !

Nice Sam!, gonna enjoy watching this one. You'll love the rumble of the inboard with water running thru the transom exhaust. I start mine at the slip once in a while just to sit and listen, with a cigar and bourbon of course ;)

Anyone see this vinyl on any of the sights ? It’s like ribbed white and alligator Hyde . The black will be changed but I would like to find the same pattern . I looked at sail right from the link Zool posted over on KC ‘s thread but didn’t see anything similar.

They use the word suede in the description title, so not sure if it would be weather friendly. It doesnt look like suede tho, maybe order a small batch to see what its like?

scratch that, suede is the color lol.

Hmm , that’s interesting…
I’d like to try that on the MFG seats . They mold really fast ..

I would look at the sunbrella horizon lines as they have the best warranty against pinking

Wow! Those are so cool! Looking forward to following the progress on this one. I 've been thinking about those boats for years - same birth-year

And, thanks for sharing. Great winter Sunday boat pics for conjuring-up great memories, and launching into other rabbit-holes, Looking forward to your progress

KC , looking to change the black to brown . A lot of black is out there . Unless I go original colors . Still debating , and still plenty time , on my decision.. It’s actually a pretty tough choice . Black would be so dang hot down here ..
