Hey Mick, the primer looks great! Nice feeling to see it one color, huh? I would really think about the new one, mine is more or less new and I have more money in it than that plus a lot of work! Can't wait to see the paint!

primer looks great mick, this will look awesome when completed, as well as your peice of mind as to how shes put together.
Ground on mine today for about 6 hours, big white cloud of dust, neighbors love me, they wash their car, and i send dust every where, work outside under on of those canvas carport things.
again looks great thanks for the info, motivation to keep on task.

Thanks guys!

Osborne- you gotta love paint and fiberglass dust. That part of the job sucks!!!

Well, the first coat is done! It looks freakin awesome!

I will post later. Gotta put the kids to bed and head back out later to clean up.

I'm totally stoked how easypoxy works! First paint I've used in a long time that actually does what it says it will do- self-leveling, dry time, temp coverage, etc...

Can't wait for the second coat tomorrow! I may do a 3rd coat too since I am going to have leftover white and since I have time because I need to figure out what I am doing with the trailer. A 3rd coat won't hurt right?

Hope everything looks good to you guys! I rolled with a foam roller the bottom, keel, and transom until all the bubbles were gone(be patient- they eventually go away when rolling). Then I rolled the sides about 2 feet at a time and then tipped it. I had to do roll and tip on the sides because of all the ribs- it was near impossible and very time consuming to try and just roll and get the bubbles out.

Let me know what you think!!!

Are you going to sand between coats? I think you may want to.
Looks good, by the way.

Tallcanadian- yes- I will be sanding between coats with "3m between coats finishing pads".

Tmcalavy- yeh, I don't want to put it on a trailer! It will probably sit in here for a week or two to allow it to get as hard as possible before I move it anywhere!

I just got done drilling the drain plug. I should have done this before primer but totally forgot:eek: it came out good though using a 1" core bit, just dusty on the transom now.

We are projected to be around 50 degrees all week so I am thinking after tomorrows 2nd coat for sure a 3rd coat sometime during the week.

Re: 1962 Arkansas Traveler restoration

Thanks Arch- No pressure! I got a while to go till I get the blue on the cap! That's months from now:mad: I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going to put the bottom of the boat so I can move the cap over to work on it!

Without a trailer(good trailer where I only have to move the boat once), I'm kinda up sh_ts creeks:eek: At least I will have some time over the next week or two whiles she's getting painted and hardening up to make a decision.

I'd go get a new trailer Monday, but I gotta find some extra money that isn't "accounted" for first:cool:

Mick, the boat looks great, I was in the same position with the trailer so the trailer will have to wait till summer when i can leave the boat in the lake and bring the trailer home ot work on it. Keep up the good work.

Paint looks awesome. Easypoxy is great to work with. After you lay the paint down and there are bubbles....a pass with the roller at high speed knocks them down but doesn't lift new ones up.

I would not do a third coat for the same reason I didn't even do a second coat of my blue. This stuff does run and if you end up with a bad run on your third coat you're gonna be hella-pissed. If you achieve full coverage with the second coat, I wouldn't mess with a third.

Hey Mick,
I'm gone for a couple of days and look what happens. First the primer and now even the paint. Man, if I was gone for a week you would be done and out of here. :D:cool:
I would go with the new trailer too my friend.
Also, for future reference, not that it matters but gas weights 6 lbs per gallon.
Looks great Mick.

Re: 1962 Arkansas Traveler restoration

I got the second coat on today. It looks great, and I am so pleased again with how the petitt easypoxy is working. Ease of application with this paint and how it levels itself after just rolling or roll and tipping, like on the sides is perfect.

I only took one pic because you really can't tell the difference in the pictures. I also did a video (there you go arch!) .

I am really thinking I am going to do a third coat of paint too. I have 3/4 of a can left so why not. It's not going to hurt anything except a couple more hours of prepping and painting. And it will add some more thickness to the paint so I'm really leaning that way unless someone tells me it will be it is going to be ineffective:confused:

Here is the pic and video

And kinda boring video
