I should have asked more directly:

That looks like a long shaft motor, is the BF a long shaft transom?

Don't discount Detroit either Mike, if the one up here looks good and you need some local help closing the deal, shoot me a PM. You know there are lots of folks that run east west on here all the time, it would get there quick if you asked.

Fiberglassics website says your BF was rated for 70HP max plus it should have a 20inch transom. Good luck with your quest! http://www.fiberglassics.com/wiki/images/3/3e/Lonestarbb005.jpg

I tried to look that up before I asked, but couldn't get the FG site to connect, that link ^^^ isn't working & the FG site is still not responding. They have trouble quite a bit, I guess they don't have the extensive IT help iboats lends to the forums :cool:

When FG wouldn't connect, I also scanned back thru 5 or 6 pages of the BF restoration, but didn't find any stern pix out of the water. It'd been a bit & I just didn't remember it's a 20" transom w/ a long shaft Lark on it currently. I didn't figure you'd be looking for the wrong 1 WOG, it just wasn't specified in the $600 ad you posted.

$450-600 for a decent T&T motor that's several decades newer then the BF is still a great deal. Although he loves it, I'm sure SP wished his ETEC was 'only' 4-5 times that much.....

Yeah, If this Local 75 HP motor checks out I'm thinkin it's gunna be in the back of my truck!!!! I'll move the Battery and fuel tanks to the bow if I have to!!! I don't think 5 hp is really gunna make that much difference and I'm thinking the newer motors are a bit lighter than the old ones. I won't be running WOT or abusing her anyhow so I'm thinking it'll be fine. Hopefully the guy will respond to my email. So far I haven't heard back from him. GBF I appreciate the kindness and if this does not work out I may put the word out for anyone in the Motor City area that would want to go take a "Look See" and then want to be Troubled with helping an Old Okie out with getting her down to OkieLand. I LOVE this forum and the Guys and Gals on it!!!!

1975/76 ish. Looks like a great motor. I always liked the Evinrudes, they always looked great and yes, you don't see many around.. I've got my fingers, toes, legs and eyes crossed for you. Hope it works out. Good luck buddy.

I hate shopping for OB's, pricing is like they are gold plated, silly.

I do have my sights on a nice 88hp Johnson at the moment though.

Course, it clamped onto a nasty glasser.

Mmmoooohhhhaaaahhhahahahahahhaaaaaa..............:heh::heh::heh:

MmmmmHmmmm... Yeah I'll bet once ya get out there with the BF flying around you won't be able to resist puttin the hammer down every now and then !! :D I don't think 5 hp over would be too much ..

It seems prudent to always have more power available than is required!

Well he finally responded @ 11:30 pm last night. Said he decided to pull the ad. Good motors were hard to find and he was going to rebuild this one for himself!!! Soooo, if anyone in the Detroit area wants to go check that on out or if Zool want to check out that Nice lookin Johnson and get the price down to $750 and the "Meet Me In ST. Louie" with it....????? Oh well, Maybe something else will turn up, I've still got a couple months to go.

I would love to help out Mike, but that motor is in GA...and my vans transmission barely makes it to HD :D...

I still have an Ocean Runner 200 that got wet from Hurricane Sandy, that I cant pick up to bring back to the shop here...and that's only on the other side of Jersey..

Wood. Once the weather breaks start watching the Chicago and Milwaukee CL. There are usually a good number of them coming up throughout the season. I passed on a real nice one last summer down by Peoria Il., only because I was really looking for a 60hp 2 cylinder.

I did find a nice 60hp and drove all the way across Wi. to DuBuque IA. to get it.
