That's no good. Sorry to hear.

The only plus side of these things is the opportunity; there were a lot of great looking engines that will fit the Flamingo rather well....

UGH! just saw this...
Double UGH!
Ah well, I guess if you want to see a silver lining...it didn't happen out in the middle of the lake with the Admiral...
Nothing but good thoughts headed your way for the perfect score on a repower!

sux about the motor :/ Ah well, the good news is that the admiral wants to get back out on the water so you're free to go motor hunting. Are you gonna stay vintage, or go modern? A nice shiny new, white Etec would look sweet and have plenty of vroom-vroom.

Not sure which direction I'm gunna go yet. I really like the Idea of Vintage but...SPHELPS New ETEC really has some advantages too!!! I do know it's gunna be a a 60 to 70 HP. Craigslist is my buddy right now!!!! You all keep your eyes peeled for anything within 250 miles of Tulsa!!!!!

I told the Admiral the E-Tecs cost $7,500 and she told me to get a second and third job and I could buy one. I think I'll pass.
Heck, I know you volunteer your time on here, but considering the amount of assistance you have provided to all of us boat restoration noobs, you could easily count this as a second job...
Now if there was only some way you could make money at it...
:spy:Maybe everyone you have ever helped on the forum could send you one samolian, you could buy two E-TEC's...:peep:
:D

Thanks GT1M but, this is NOT a job. This is a Labor of Love. The guys on here make work a bit easier to deal with. Besides everybody knows I'm just an Old Dumb Okie!!!! I put a Motor Wanted Ad on the Local CraigsList. We'll see what comes of it!!! Guess I could buy some Oar Locks and some Oars!!!!

Lots of donor motors out there that would mate your known-to-be-good powerhead with a standard gearcase lower unit without the complications of electric shift if you just absolutely, positively do not need more HP. Good luck!
