Well, been quite a while since I've had any time to work on the BF!!! I KNOW she's been feeling neglected and when I untarped her I could sure see why!!! What a dirty mess!! The Admiral went to the kids for the weekend for a Baby shower for our upcoming 4th grandchild soooo...I stayed home to work on the boat. We're having an unusually Mild August in Okie land and the temps were in the low to mid 80's all weekend so this OLD OKIE was able to get some Boat Time!!! I got the inside all re-worked (Sanded and 3 coats of epoxy on deck and seat pyramids) and re-painted and almost went Snow Blind from all the White!!! (Pics tonite) Gunna do the fake "Zolatoning" tonite. I also need to attach the gunwale treads. (Never have done that either.) I sanded and prepped all the "Scars" from the "Dock Wars" from the Maiden Launch and will mix up some paint and attempt to "PreVal Spray" the touch ups and then wet sand em out. I'll let you know (with Pics) how that turns out. Hope to get all this done in the evenings this week and hit the lake next weekend. I've been in the woodshop knocking out a LOT of projects for Family and Friends but almost totally caught up now so, the BF WILL get the finishing touches in the next several weeks and be checked off as complete. Well.... except for the fact I'm still looking to upgrade to a 70 hp but andgott and that old 70 hp Merc' is still in Tenn. and that's a LOOOOOOOOONG ways away. Maybe someday!!!!

That's my picture-less update and I KNOW it doesn't count!!!!!

Ok, not much to see, but just so I can validate that I DID actually uncover the BF and work on her, here's the pics.

Foot Plates are on.

Also got the battery charged and fresh gas. Pumped the bulb 5 times, hit the started 3 times and she fired right up. I guess the work my B.I.L. did in May on the motor fixed the problem. Loos like the Admiral and me have a date with Lake Skiatook this weekend. I'll try and take vids and pics to share the fun. Guess I'll do the Zolatone tomorrow and possibly some paint touch ups. Admiral had a "List" tonite, including giving the dog a bath!!!! I also have discovered I need to move my trailer axle back one hole on the trailer. She's a bit light on the tongue weight. That may have to wait till after the lake trip. We'll see how it goes the rest of the week.

Yeah, my son's been taking the VW bus to a weekend "Cars & Breakfast" club. A bunch of guys take their restored cars to a parking lot on Sat. Morning and Cook breakfast for everyone. They all cruise the lot looking at each others cars. The bus has been getting a LOT of attention!! He's really pleased with how it all came out. He took his son camping in it a couple weeks ago and they had a blast. Said it was very comfortable to sleep in. Camper is in "Demo" mode and "On Hold" till after the Baby comes Sept. 3rd.

Battling a stomach virus last couple days. Not feeling well enuf to work on the BF so no "Zolatoning" yet! If the stomach calms down and I can keep some food down soon, I hope to get it done and still make my date with the Admiral and the Lake this weekend. Pics will be forthcoming as soon as it happens. Might try and shoot a video of how I do the Zolatone if you think it would be helpful. Let me know your thoughts.

Video of the Zolatone when you're able would be great.

Any early hints? Toothbrush & thumb? Brush & stick? Fly spit from a gun? Bi or tri color?

BTW: Zolatone isn't required life safety equipment.. I'm just saying, if the weather is being especially cooperative for a re-
splash..

Be well.

Re: 1962 Lonestar "Flamingo" - I finally Started w/pics

Do any of you have that little voice in your head that tells you when you shouldn't do something, or is it just this Old Dumb Okie? If so, are you Dumb like me and say things to it like "Nah, it'll be ok, don't worry about it!!!" Well, I did , but I shoulda listened cuz, I took the Admiral and the BF to the Lake today, and everything went PERFECT, for 45 mins. Motor fired up first turn of the key and idled smooth as silk so the B.I.L. in fact DID fix the problem. Once out of the bay, hit WOT and she planed out and performed perfectly. Went to the Marina, got the wife a coke and a snack, cruised across the lake and then... motor went to 1/3 speed. Wasn't getting any fuel. Remember that little voice. What it had been telling me was. Use Tank #1 NOT #2. I have 2 Old Steel tanks that I refurbed and Powder Coated. Tank #2 gave me and the son some issues the last time out but I worked on it and thought it was good to go but still I KNEW that #1 was A-OK but that little voice told me not to take a chance and just get new fuel in #1 since we had so many issues the first time with the Admiral. But NOOOOOOOOO I HAD to ignore the voice and go ahead. Well, at least we got back to the dock and got loaded up. Sure nuff, got home dis-assembled the tank unit and voila~ the pick up tube filter was totally clogged. I guess I'll Buy a New Moeller Plastic 12 gallon tank and be done with it. NO MORE spoiled trips with the Admiral. She DID enjoy the 45 mins and there were no major mishaps with the boat. Unloading and loading went flawlessly and weather was PERFECT. She enjoyed herself and stated she wanted me to get it running so we could go again soon and stay longer. I was surprised!!! No pics but it DID happen!!!!
