This is certainly not boring. You sure do fine quality work. Are you taking orders? I wish I had half the skill that you have. I love the table.

Nice work!!!!
Not boring at all. I think most people who are handy enough to rebuild their boats love to see any other kind of craft work as well.

Mike,
Any person who can take one of God's creations and turn them into absolute, stunning works of practical art as you have done, could NEVER bore me...quite the opposite...you inspire me!
God Bless, my brother.:)

Happy B-day Wood! I love the furniture personally. You've got a little bit of everything there. I especially like the oak table and "Parrot" chair (very FL) ;) Is the table made from red oak and/or live oak? I have a chunk of live oak that's been drying for a couple years that I want to make some Aikido training weapons (bokken, jo) out of, but I'm not sure how easy it is to work, or how well it will hold up to compression stresses. They're usually made from a from of Japanese white oak, or American hickory, both of which are very hard to find in the billets I need.

A true craftsman Wood. I can't believe your neighbor is going to use that table in his shop.....heck it could be used in someones dining room for a formal dinner party....LOL, as if this old Marine knows anything about "formal" dinner party. Which brings me to the Flag Box, very nice touch adding the 21 casings to the bottom. A fitting tribute to those WWII vets that we are rapidly loosing. Very nice work on all the projects.

The Parrot and other grapics were painted by a local artist. She's the Art Teacher at Owasso High School, (subburb of Tulsa). She was gunna charge me $100 for it but when she found out I was giving the chair away as a B'day Present she donated her work as well. What a Gal!!!!!

The Grandson of the VET that commissioned the box started crying when he saw the box. He was amazed with the casings as well. He had no idea they were going to be there. I was honored to present it to him and the family. Those guys truly were our "Greatest Generation!"

My wife says my woodshop is my "Mistress!" I come home, change clothes and head to the shop. She yells when supper's ready and then I head back out. Usually get in by 11:00 p.m. I also am fortunate enough to work @ a company where I work a 9-80 schedule so I get every other Friday off. Having two 3 day weekends a month REALLY helps when you have a lot of projects to do. I also am blessed with a 600 sq. ft. dedicated shop that I have managed to fill with all the quality woodworking tools you could wish for. 10" Grizzly Cabinet Saw, 8" Grizzly Jointer, 14" Delta Bandsaw, 12 1/2" Delta Planer, 10"x6" Disc/Belt sander, 12" Delta Drill Press, Dedicated Mortiser, 60 gallon compressor, air tools, grinders, paint guns, 4 routers and a ton of hand tools. All of this has been accumulated over the years and back when I was a contractor. I keep telling my wife that whoever dies with the most tools wins...& I want to WIN!!!!!:D:lol:

There is more to "the right tools" or having "the most tools" in the quality of your workmanship. The best tool is between your ears in my opinion. That is the tool that controls the eyes and hands and patience, which results in the quality of your woodwork. I know guys that have $100 drills and can't drill a round hole, LOL.

I have a question about bedding boat stringers now....I didn't mean to get off the subject...lol. You originally recommended bedding stringers in PL, with 1/4" spacers placed between the stringer and the hull. Somewhere a few days/weeks ago, I saw where you said you had changed your mind and recommended that they be bedded in PB. My question is if the stringers are to be bedded in PB, should 1/4" spacers still be used?

Fantastic work Woody ! I wish I had your collection of tools but mostly your talent ! I worked for a guy many years ago making country furniture . It didn't matter if it was a little rough around the edges so I took to that rather well ..:)

You are a true craftsman for sure.. You are truly blessed with all the tools and shop.. I hope you do WIN.. BUT NOT TO SOON..:D

I'd bet even without all the tools you have, you could do just as great a job with a hammer, chisels, block plane, and hand saws..

I always like seeing quailty work of any kind.. The Flag Box was one of the nicest I've ever seen..

Look forward to seeing more.. Thanks for sharing..:applause:

Excellent work! I especially like the ADK chair, I'm a big fan of them, being from that neck of the woods. And the flag case with the shell casings embedded - sheer genius!
