Congrats Wood on your splash. It must have been a proud moment. My best to your misses, I know all about back pain. But at least you got all your bad luck out of the way first. You have helped so many on here, me included. I promise, karma will be kind to you. Best wishes and good luck.

Hey there Wood congrats. That keel damage should be no problem for you to fix. Didn't you keep some the paint you mixed anyway? Hope your wife gets better soon.

Congrats on the splash- Hopefully you drank the champagne rather than wasting it by pouring it on the boat :)

As for the damage- After the work you've already done, I'm sure it will be nothing. I know how you feel about it, though- I can tell you where every scratch and ding is on mine, and exactly what stupid thing I did to cause it... Just comes with the territory...

-Andrew

Yeah I drank the Champagne when I got home. May keep drinkin it for a week or so. I discovered that the dock "Ate Up" the paint on my starboard gunwale too!!! It just keeps comin!!!!! By the way Your PM box is full!!!!

Sorry to hear about the misfortune Wood, just ignore the boat for a week or so, and you'll start feeling better. Hope to see you back at it.

Re: 1961 Lonestar "Flamingo" - SPLASHED!!!!!

Well guys... If anyone ever asks you if you know a Dumb Doneky, Ignoramus, Idiot... you can say, Yeah I know WoodOnGlass!!!!! Thanks to our fellow KNOWLEDGEABLE iBoat member andgott, who happens to have the exact same trailer that I have, I found out that since it's a TILT TRAILER, I'm suppoesed to Unload and Load the boat using the TILT FEATURE. If not you usually HIT METAL and TEAR YOUR BOAT UP!!!! You would think that as much research and studying as I do, I would have done that on MY TRAILER!!!! One thing is for sure...There will be no more Power Loading in the BF's future. I now have the knowledge on how to properly load her onto a Gator Tilt Trailer. Thank you andgott!!!!!

The Admiral is not doing very well. Very sore and not very mobile. That makes me more sick than the boat. I been taking care of her and have not even went outside to do any more inspection on the boat. Really don't care right now. When the Admiral is better, I MIGHT have some interest but not now. She's put up with me for over 40 years, taken care of me ALWAYS and now it's my turn. BF is officially on HOLD till the wife is well. PERIOD!!!

Sorry to hear about the wife, tell her I hope she is doing better soon, and good call on the boat....any woman that can put up with you for 40 years is definitely more important!

Re: 1961 Lonestar "Flamingo" - SPLASHED!!!!!

WOG,

My splash this weekend was equally abysmal. I fired the motor up (while on the trailer this time) and she purred like a kitten. Jumped in and put in reverse and backed out about 5 feet when the motor died. Current pushed me back to dock. I tied up and tried to start again for over hour. Grounded out safety switch just to see if would start. It fired up nicely and ran stronger. Raised throttle a little and backed out 200 yards or so. Boat would not go into forward gear at all. Tried to turn boat around and back to dock (boat would not turn and we could not get back to dock). the boat jumped and bounced around the whole time in reverse. In the end, I had to jump out and swim (pull with rope) the darned thing back to the dock. At this point I loaded it on trailer and beat feet home.
I am not even going to look at it for a while either. I am sorry your splash was equally bad my friend. I also pray for your wife?s speedy recovery. I ended up with sore thigh/leg muscles that screams as I walk all day for my trouble.

Congrats on the splash. Looks nice on the water. Sorry to hear about the Missus, I hope she's feeling better. And don't worry too much about the BF, I'm sure you'll have her up and running in no time.

Hey Wood good to see you put it in the water! Sorry about you're mishaps. I got mine wet yesterday for the first time. it wasnt in the lake but i put it down in my big pond. LOL. I would still like to meet up with you one day and put these old things side by side. Hopefully your boat and the Mrs, get well soon.

Don’t be so hard on yourself, Wood. Whatever happened to the boat, I am sure it is nothing that you can’t fix. I wish your “Admiral” a fast recovery. Thank you for the video and thanks for volunteering your time here to help us out.

Thanks for your kind remarks. The Admiral is on the mend and has even asked when I was going to get the BF fixed so we can try it again. I have a three day weekedn coming up this weekend sooo.. I may take a hitch at glassin the keel. If I do, I'll take pics and vids so you can all see this Old man practice what he preaches.
