Nice looking compound miters Wood! I've had that problem with the blue tape, I like the normal 3M for stuff like that....the glue seems tackier. They do make a green automotive paint tape that is really sticky, but it is expensive.

Looks like some nice wood work my friend. A few inlays would set them off nicely. lol
Nice work.

Looking really good Wood.
That is excellent work on the mitter joints. You have to be very accurate to make joints line up like yours did.
Thanks for the tip on making the pyramids. I might be able to use them for my boat.

I truly belive I have the finest miter guage made. It is an Osborne EB-3. I bouught it several years ago, on sale, for $99.00. It is amazing and ever since I got it my woodworking abilities have increased immensely. If you're looking for one, I highly recommend it.

Oh NO!!!!! This is the TWIN SISTER of the Blue Flamingo!!!! and it's 10 miles from my house. Asking $500 but I called and the condition is a LOT worse than the BF was when I got her so I told the kid he was out of line. He said come take a look and make an offer. Lookes like a 40 HP 59 Golden Jubilee Rude' on her but he said the lower unit was off and he was not sure why. His Friends Dad died and his friend gave it to him and now his dad says get rid of it. Trailer has new tires and buddy bearings, Windshield no cracks seats are there but cracked, All deck hardward still there. I am REALLY not wanting to get DEE-VORCED but......

I gotta go take a look see and make a ridiculous offer and see what he says. $100 bucks and she's coming home.

from the pictures it just looks like she has a dirty dress on that needs a good washing. I believe her sister in your garage has been looking for her for along time and sending out distress calls for her. Seems like you finally heard what she was hearing........

just look at it as matching his and hers, wives love that kind of thing, towels, shirts, closets, why not boats??? :D

Way to help WOG get himself in deep guano, guys.

Of course: MBS<<--It's what we do here!:D

Looks like a nice 2nd rig to bring into the WOG boat house, cramped as it might be. That way you & the MRS can be out in BF#1, with your son & his family in BF part deux. There are all FORD & all CHEVY families, why can the WOG's be an all BF family?

Hey, if you weren't 1750mi away, I'd offer ya the boat's, the motor & the trailer's purchase price for the windshield, if it would fit. You know, just to help ya out & then its a FREE boat!:)

By the way, do you know where I can score one of these:
Mercury sewing machine.jpg????? Don't know nothing about it, but hmmmmmm.....

You & JDA have me looking for a machine to do my upholstery, or more accurately for the Admiral, oh she'll have an all thumbs assistant (yours truly) to help (???), do the vinyl work....and I'm several weeks behind JDA.....

Man, time to B.O.A.T. (bust out another thousa....)

Get it wood! The motor alone is worth it. You can hide it from the wife at my house.......in Florida :) Just tell her that you'll have a nice matching pair, like shoes, or his and her towels. Chicks are in to that sort of thing :) Tell her you'll even paint it pink, if she wants! LOL! Happy hunting!

GT, you failed to mention that they were: SINGLE Buddy #1 & SINGLE Buddy #2.

Mrs WOG's friends have sent an overnight, rush delivery:

W/ friends like these, who needs enemies:eek:

Sorry WOG, I will now keep my raccoons a safe distance away from your thread:rolleyes:

If there's room for a 2nd, I hope you score a terrific deal. Maybe you can deal w/ the guy's dad who wants it gone! 'Free' boat!!

I have a feeling we'll hear that it wasn't his fault, it heard how good he treated the 1st BF, and followed him home..........

I would totally dig my dad & I having the same rig & out cruising. Even if layout, colors & motor were different. Actually, different would probably be better, w/ the same exact boats the Admiral(X2) would want us in matching yacht club caps & jackets:facepalm:...

That would just not be cool......

Good luck & I thought boating kept families together...!?!?!?!

Looks like a nice rig- Just tell the wife that the Flamingo split like an amoeba, and now there are TWO!

That's not a Golden Jubilee 'Rude- It's a '60 or later. In 59 they were only 35 HP and had different cowls... I've got a couple of 'em in my basement ;)

Here the Center Core is in with the PVC installed. Not epoxied yet.

Here the top cap is in place

Photo0369.jpg

Here is the pedestal that attaches to the bottom of the seat.

Photo0370.jpg

This is kinda what it will look like when the seat is on. Not a very good pic but you can kinda get an idea. I have to cut the shaft off a about 2". Hope to Get it all Epoxied and cut and assembled tomorrow nite if the weather holds.

Ingenious design. You're not worried about that PVC pipe cracking or breaking? How much "play" is there when the shaft is inserted?

(Better make two of everything!...Just kidding, did you look at the other Flamingo yet?)

Yes to all of that ^^^^^^ but esp @ BF#2????

I was wondering if you were removing the seat after every run, or were going to use lithium grease in the PVC post hole? Either way. I might add a bronze/brass bushing to the top of the PVC shaft, and a brassbronze washer on the seat's pedestal shaft.

But really well planned & built, looks great & if I can find a shallow sliding, rotating seat base, I'll copy your work:D Please let me know what the royalty fee is:eek:, and is it per seat???

Will be packed with Lithium Grease. Maybe 1/32" play in the hole. I also plan on Placinng a Stainless steel washer on the top of the base and the bottom of the plate with a plastic washer between. I truly believe it will last for decades. At least long enuf that my Grandson will be the one to have to worry about it.
