Ok, the Boss let us off early so I got home changes clothes went out, checked the action on the cables to confirm that mine were now moving exactly like those in the video.
Now I don't want to scare any one but...This is how I look now...

HAPPY iBoater!!!!

It WORKS!!!! I had the gear on the shift arm one tooth off and thats why it would not pull back into reverse and then I learned that I REALLY AM AN OLD DUMB OKIE. What I thought was reverse was Forward and vice versa. I also learned that it shifts a LOT easier when running. The video of the working shifter really convinced me that I was thinking about the shifting position all wroing. So I started searching some on the correct shift position and found people talking about having the motor running when testing shifting and adjusting it. So when I got home I checked the cables to make sure they were functioning just like those in the video, hooked em up, put on the muffs cranked up the water, turned the key and she fired right up. I held my breath put her in reverse and checked the prop and VOILA' She was spinnin in Reverse. Pushed her into Neutral and she stopped. Pushed her into Forward and Pop she started spinning Clockwise. I must tell you I DID dance a little Jig in the back yard!!!!

I want to thank EVERYONE for putting up with my Whining and Moaning and Groaning and for researching and helping me sooooooooo much. This is why I LOVE this forum so much. Everyone helping everyone. THANKS!!!!!

It looks like my carb rebuild has gone awry cuz the motor is now running rough and the lower carb has sprung a bit of a leak so I'm gunna take it off and see whats up with that. Prolly a gasket or sumthun. Possibly a floats stuck. I'll get that worked out and then after the Lake clears off from all the Drunks and Crazies after the Fourth..the BF will get Splashed again with her NEW Tail Feathers!!!! I'll try and get a video of that.

Again Thanks to everyone for all of your Patience and help through all of this. Much appreciated. I hope to be able to "Pay this Forward" to someone else in the future. It WAS a great, although Painful, learning experience.

Thanks for the offer Sam!!!
I haven't hooked it up yet but I DID buy a new Rotary Teleflex quick connect system. For the initial splash I hooked up the Cable and pulley system and it's working just fine. Don't plan on doing a lot of High speed turns on the first outing!!!!:D I'll work on installing the new system after that.

Again, Thanks to EVERYONE!!! I still can't believe it. Just got back from taking the Admiral to dinner and I went out and tried it again just to make sure I wasn't dreamin!!! Yup, it still worked!!!! Amazing!!!! A little bit of knowledge can go a LOOOOOOOONG way!!! That video that Bryan posted really did the trick. Knowing how a really working unit operated convinced me that I was thinking wrong and then finding the service manual pics of the gear and how it was supposed to engage the disc made all the difference. Once I KNEW for sure how it was supposed to work.the rest was eazy smeazy!!!

*@*#*&*@*I#&@* I HATE MOTORS!!!!! I HATE Mechanical Work!!! Always Have Always Will!!!! The Lower Carb Float Bowl Gasket is leaking. I rebuilt both carbs with NEW Kits and New Gaskets. Did em both the same and tried to be meticulous with both of em. The top one works PERFECT! No Runs, No Drips No Errors!!! The Bottom...Uhhmmm Not so much. I've had it off and on 4 freakin times. Inspected, Adjusted, Tightened, and still when I pump up the squeeze ball on the tank and it pressures up Gas begins to seep out of the back side of the bottom carbs float bowl. This last time I even put some Form-A-Gasket on it!!! UNCLE!!! Checked with the local Dealers and they don't carry the gasket by itself. Want to sell me the entire rebuild kit. Went online Gasket is $4.95. Shipping is $7.95!!!!!! :eek:I think tonight I'm going to Autozone and buy some gasket material and try and Make my own gasket and try ONE MORE TIME!!. If that doesn't work...I'm gunna buy a Sail Boat. We got LOTS of wind in Okie Land!!!!

If it is coming out of the top of the float bowl, your float is still a little high. Try setting it a little lower. All the gasket does is try to keep the fuel from seeping out when it sloshed around.

Also double check that the needle is working properly with the float, that the link between them is connected and free...if there is any binding or the needle tip is worn out, it won't be able to stop the fuel flow...

Ok, I've installed New Carb Kits in Both Carbs. I followed this Video EXACTLY and set the Float exactly like this guy. I've ensured that the float is working properly and the needle valve is operating properly and yet...When I pump the bulb and pressure up the carb...I get gas leaking out the gasket.
I've removed and checked it 5 times. I've got it off and on the bench and gunna test the needle valve tommorrow after work..Thanks Rodney for the tip. If this attempt does not get the job done. I'm callin it quits and finding a mechanic.:blue:

Wood; sometimes there may be a slight imperfection in the bowl face that will cut the gasket even so slightly.

When I work on Holleys, I use chapstick to coat the gasket (both sides). It sure helps if you have to take it apart down the road, otherwise the gasket will tear even after a few weeks.

Also, I use a very small stiff wire like on a Paper Repair Tag to make sure all of the idle circuits are cleared. You might check the weight of the float with a carburetor scale. A slightly heavy float will cause even the best adjusted float leak fuel through the needle. Even plastic floats can gain weight. If it is brass, they can become leaky. Either way, plastic or brass, they have to be replaced.

When I was a kid, I blew air through the inlet on an old Zenith carburetor not knowing any better.

It was my sophomore year in Ag. Mechanics and I had to replace the float.

If you haven't changed the needle and float, insure that there is no varnish on the needle and that there is no damage to either.

I know they can be frustrating!

Check you PM too.
