Moutain_Man,
We either fix it, or grab a fishing pole and pretend till it gets dark. :D:p
Bob

That is funny, mainly because I could see myself sitting there with a pole waiting till noone is watching

Last year we were in a cove where everyone hangs out....and a nice cuddy cabin floats in, looked like it had pulled its anchor loose. We were all betting if a really shocked looking guy and girl would stick their heads up! When I drove by the next morning it was gone! Just put the last coat of primer on...need to clean up and get the boat back in....I'll post some photos later tonight.

Hey looking good. You are tedious about everything huh- that's a good thing.
Your boats gonna look awesome when the paint is on!

Here are the pics from today. I was really happy with the progress, it looked more like the third prime coat than the 2nd. Here is a shot right before I pushed it out for priming.

Looks like I need to get it a swine flu shot! Here are a couple of pics I got of the primer before it flashed, it looked really good wet! (Kind of like Morgan Farichild Mick...)

Here is one after I pulled it back in the shop....back to sanding this week. Most of the stuff I have to work on are pinholes, but I'm sure blocking will reveal more issues to fix.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

archbuilder,
Hey it looked blue outside and Grey when you brought it in. I got it, must have been that blue ski reflecting off the hull. :D:p
It really looks good. I'm sure that you can see more then us but it sure looks good to me.
Nice Job.

It did look really good Bob, but there were a few things that showed up...and I'm sure a few that didn't....I could go ahead and shoot it, but I think I would be disappointed later that I didn't fix things I knew about. I'm sure when I do paint it Murphy will show up regardless of my diligence....just don't want to give him a free-be! And its only a few more hours work at this point, so why slack off now?

archbuilder,
I'm with you on that and if I see Murphy heading you way I'll try to take him out before he can get close.
Keep up the great work

Archbuilder let me first start off by saying that I am very impressed with your workmanship. You seem to me that you are a very "detailed" type of person, one that does not get flustered if something doesn't go just right. Also your non chalantness if something does not go just right,( I'll fix it no big deal) must be an inherited character, (cudos to your upbringing).Enough of the praising! Looking forward to the finished product.
Good Luck!

Re: 16' Nescher ski boat complete restore

Thanks for all the encouragement and complements. I figure this is my chance to get it right.....so why not take the time. I'm headed out tonight to work on fixing pin holes and starting the sanding process again. The weather doesn't look favorable to shoot the primer again next weekend  but maybe the forecast will change....I am in OK after all! Knowing how close I am to paint really has me wound up!

Re: 16' Nescher ski boat complete restore

I didn't have much time on the boat tonight, I need to finish up some work for the office. I did mark and fill all of the little problem spots I found using a halogen light. Finding them is one thing, remembering where they are when you are trying to spot putty them is another. So I marked each one with a piece of tape. Since many are small, I put a dot on the tape next to where the hole was with a sharpie. This made it a lot simpler to get them all puttied.

IMG_2944.jpg

Here is a close up of a small scratch next to the tape. The scratch is to the left....kind of hard to get a good picture of it.

IMG_2945.jpg

I got them all spot puddied, hopefully tomorrow I will have time to start blocking everything out again.

archbuilder,
Well it looks like that you are covering all your bases. Great detail work. Great idea to tape them as you found them too.
Good luck on the filling in process.

You are not going to want to turn it back over it is going to look so good. Are you doing gelcote or paint? I forget.

I did the same thing with tape to do my final 180 sanding. I washed it down then put tape over everywhere I needed more sanding. Once the dust is flying you cant see small imperfections. looks great and I cant wait to see paint on it. Are you sure you dont want to gelcoat?:D
