hell frisco I am less than 20 feet from the neighboars houseand about 10 feet from his 23 foot boat and I spray. just do it in the garage wich is sealed pretty well and I run a fan with filters on it. I have never even seen a spec of overspray on my own car on the other side of the door. By the time it is 2 feet from where you are spraying it is dry.
Great primer job keep it up and she will be purty. Both our arms are going to be useless by the end of the week archbuilder. If you think you are sanding out rough stuff take a look at what I am sanding. And most of mine is hand blocking also but I am cheating . I started using the da to knock the tops of the mountains off

Have fun skibum! That gel coat doesn't sound like fun to sand! I love my acreage, we all do what we want....that's why we all live out here, I've seen welding flashed come from my neighbors shop at 2am. The only one who it probably irritates is the squirrels !

I am very lucky that living this close to neighbors they dont mind me working till all hours of the night. I very regularly have the compressor running at 3am. I know my closest neighbor hears it but he doenst seem to mind. In fact he came over today and checked out the progress. I told him I need to build it well because it will be a while before I inherit his. He has a 23 foot cuddy with a supercharged 454. Last summer we spent many days anchored together off the island.
The rest of the neighbors seem fine with it too. Especially when their car breaks or something in their house breaks they all come see me.

I need more space. We keep our house in really nice shape. I have beautiful landscaping, the yard is always one of the greenest on the block, and I have a really nice Board on Board cedar fence, and they still do not like my work van and work trailer parked in my drive IN THE BACK of my house. Meanwhile my next door neighbor never fertilizes his lawn, and his fence is falling down. Go figure. As soon as the market turns around I am selling it, getting some acreage, preferably on the lake, building a new house, and a nice shop.

I never have had any problems with my neighbors either, of coarse they no I have very large guns. I have had friends out for a day of shooting it gets pretty loud. Just imagine 5-8 guys with AR 15's, SKS's, or my favorite FN FAL (308). How many folks do you think would have the nerve to tell us we were to loud. I do live in the country and I have 10.5 acres.
Needless to say they don't mine me working on my boat.

Our shootouts have been known to bring out certain state officials, but never at my house.
I would love to have a Garand or better yet M14. I had the 14 in the USMC and loved it. Modified Garand.

No pics tonight, just hanging out and relaxing....tomorrow I'm back to sanding.....and sanding......there is also a boat show in town..that might be distracting!

Well I finished up blocking out the primer tonight with 180 grit. It looks pretty good, but there are still a lot of little chips that need fixed. I plan on getting up tomorrow and working on the chips, hopefully I can get it primed by late afternoon. Next week isn't looking real good weather wise for priming outdoors. Here are the pictured of it blocked out....looks like it has the measles or something!

I also hit the OKC boat show this morning....lots of really expensive boats I would love to have! But having one that you did the work on is a great feeling.....I can't wait to get her on the lake!

Hey, a new boat may be nice, but I agree that, it makes you feel a whole lot better to turn heads in an old classic, that you rebuilt on your own.
I hope you get it primed like you plan. I know how Murphy tends to show up.

I'm not sure about that....I have a stack of recipts next to me that I'm afraid to add up....I think I'll just wait till I'm done before I do that. I did get a couple of ideas for speaker locations and drink holders while looking at the new boats. Drinking some coffee, then heading out to work on the chips. Hopefully we will have more primer on after lunch!

New boats are great for ideas. I bet the reciepts dont add up to over $10,000 and a new one is $16,000 and up

You know when you restore a boat, it's like restoring a classic car. You know every bolt, screw, wire, and blemish! You're part of it, and you know it intimately. Now when one of thos "rich" people with a 50k boat has a problem out on the water what are they gonna do? "Cry Help! We'll just fix it and go on.

Just got all 62 million little chips spot puttied...heading to lunch then more sanding...and primer later! I'll post a couple shots later.
