Re: 16' Nescher ski boat complete restore- SPLASHED!!

Thanks for the thoughts but this one didn't pan out....it turned out to be an executive, not an ambassador...love fuzzy craig's list photos. But I did start a new thread...the hunt for a new hull, maybe a few weeks or a few years.

EZ you are right on the impulse purchases, great advise. The only problem is the hulls are common on the west coast but not OK. But then again I'm not in a hurry on this one....so I will wait for the "right one".

TII and Knightwolf, I will try to keep you entertained :) but I need this economy to go somewhere!

Jay you are right on the size, and I have thought about that......I'm not even sure how well it will fit in the shop. As for flipping, I'm guessing I will have to build some rigging for that. I'm sure I can lean on my freind Don to help me out with that......given the resources in his shop we could flip a locomotive! The question is, how is the best way to approach this....of course this is speculation at this point since I don't have a project boat...lol Here is a link to my new thread, I'll try to keep it updated. And of course Miss Morgan will be getting some new accessories to keep you entertained!

I hear you VIP.....it has been a roller coaster ride for me. Not much to report this weekend...went to lake Tenkiller and took a 70' mph zip around the lake in a 21 fourwinns....sweet boat, then hung out for my friends dock b-day party.....I won't get into the details, somethings just shouldn't be documented! lol! I did clean the shop some today (needs about 2 days of cleaning) and fiddled with the fuel gauge some. Hopefully I will have time this week to get it hooked up. I also ordered a Johnson trim guage to see if it will solve my trim gauge issue! Happy 4th!

If you end up buying a jet and making the conversion to IO keep me in mind. I might be interested in the jet drive. Also, as others have said, These seem to come up pretty often. I'd keep looking to you find the right one. You know I looked as far as SoCal and was really considering a trip out there when mine turned up 15 miles from my house. It's funny how when you are looking they seem to not exist. I wanted a jet and all I could find was IO's LOL.

Another thing you have to think about is size. It takes alot more muscle to flip and move around a larger boat.

That is no lie. I can tell you from the Sleek brochure that I have tthat the 26' Ambassador weighs in at ~2600 minus motor and drive. Compared to my Rebel that weighs in at 925. Here is a link to another brochure that says the 26' ambassador is 3500 with twins.

Man, I've been buzzing through this thread at work since 6 this morning. Great job on the build and I love the color scheme.

It would look real good being pulled behind my race car...

Thanks white90gt...glad I could help you pass the work day, lol! I got the Johnson trim gauge that I ordered....maybe it will fix my gauge reading backwards problem! Figured for 30 bucks it was worth a shot. That may have to wait till next week....Looks like I maybe working on the lake retaining wall project this weekend....I'll find out when I get a price from the concrete guy....not looking forward to that, I was wanting to make it a fall project. The concrete guy is going to be in the area, and that will save me some $$. Guess I will find out when I get the price tomorrow if I will be boating or sitting on a tractor this weekend!

Well I tried using a Johnson trim gauge to try to cure my backwards reading trim indicator...it worked....sort of, its going the correct direction, but the gauge pegs out in the down position before it is really down. Guess I should have checked the working resistance range...but it was worth a shot! Back to the drawing board trying to sort out the sending unit!

By the way everyone, BigBoatinOkie and I are having a meet up at Lake Eufaula OK again this year. Anyone is welcome to attend, we are meeting at the island / the cut close to the dam. I will post a pic with our location marked on it once the date gets closer. Everyone is welcome, PM me if you are interested. We are going to hang out and enjoy the sun / water, just an informal get together. Hopefully we can talk BBO into cooking again! He is the master of the hot dogs and hamburgers! The date is Aug 20th, sometime around noon.

I finally had time to get the fuel gauge in tonight....the ground is a little rigged for now, but I will get that straitened out tomorrow....I just wanted to make sure it was working correctly.

Its nice to see the dash full of gauges!

My electrical problem appeared again, everything going through the fuse block was dead....I got out the volt gauge and tested the power at the incoming ground and hot side. I got a good 12+ volts. Then all of a sudden the power came on to everything! I'm thinking I need to swap out the fuse block and see what happens....what a pain!

I was tired of seeing that vacant spot! Gauges look nice. I'm working on those on my boat now also. First thing I learned my rectifier is most likely fried since my tach didn't work  At least it's a cheap part!

don't even get me started on rectifiers! After messing will all of the electrical issues on Max last year.....I might as well tear down the stator and trigger this winter, that way he will be all new other than coils! The hole bugged me too, but going to the lake sounded like more fun than putting it in! I'm getting caught up around the house this weekend so I can go play next weekend!
