Re: 16' Nescher ski boat complete restore- SPLASHED!!
I'll delete something, try it again. We'll tonight I finished up putting in the tank. I did a little bit of a rush job, but it is functional. I'm going to need to go back next week and tidy up the fuel supply line and vent line. Right now I have them zip tied to everything....I want to go back and clean all that up. I also don't have the fuel gauge hooked up, I need to pick up some hardware to make that happen. I'm going to take a spare tank this weekend so I don't end up stranded! Here are some shots of the install.
I started out by putting the rubber pads and tank in. I took measurements and bent at 1/8" x 1" aluminum bar to match the shape of the tank and the hold down points. They both came out great, easy to form (anything its easier than stainless!)
Next I drilled (very carefully) pilot holes for 1/4" lags in the seacast transom. Then I bolted the bracket to the transom. I love the seacast, worth the money any day in my opinion.
Next I plumed the tank and slid it into place. It was a little bit of a fight with the brackets in place.....but worked out nicely. I aligned it with the filler, the clamped and screwed it into place.
I also cut the garage door rubber to lenght, slid it in and clamped everything down. The hard points worked like a champ, I wish I had done my seats that way now.
Here is a detail shot, this is going to work nicely for a point to mount the cover brackets also.
Overall it went pretty smoothly, I was just pressed for time....next week I will iron out the details....now its time to get her wet!
