    1995 Johnson 15hp

Just for giggles, you may want to check the throttle cam. It's plastic and can break. My did. Caused me all kind of issues. There is also a throttle follower and roller. Mine is plastic. Has broken before. Both have adjustment screws also. Good luck. Keep after it you'll get it.

'88 Johnson 15hp link 'n sync after cam throttle and carb top replacement

First, I want to say thanks for the support. To repair the above issue. After ordering and receiving parts, do a search for the "wayback machine" and go to that website. From here, in the top left go to "internet archive", then, "books", then "book to borrow". In the search box, enter what...

'88 Johnson 15hp link 'n sync after cam throttle and carb top replacement

J15ECCS w/ remote controls. Long story, short version. Need steps and advise after replacing the broken throttle cam, cam follower (w/roller), and top carburetor cover. The old carburetor top #331735. I'm replacing with #337833 because I already have it. But using the original slow speed...

1972 Johnson 85 HP (85ESL72R) No Spark, stuck

I did the "Joe Reeves Timing Method" and it worked GREAT. When I got my boad/engine it would idle great but would fall on its face in the water. After new plugs and wires. New stator and regulator. Doing Joe Reeves timing method. My boat will walk on water. Just search and you will find the steps.

RKL-24-L Proud daddy of twins. Maybe

Well didn't do a lot over weekend. Removed flywheel and removed the coils and points on engine 1. Put Twc3 oil in plug holes and spun by hand a few time. Compression test top cylinder had 100psi bottom about 103 psi. The points didn't look that bad but coils were gone. Pulled flywheel on engine...

Jimmbo, that is pretty. Thanks for the pic. Just wondering if those two outboards would be too much for a 196x StarCraft jet 15 ? Could I beef up the transom to support all the weight?

I do have a solenoid. It's currently laying in the back on one of the engines in first set of pics. Only thing you can see of it a lug and wire going to it. Can get a better pic Saturday. Below what I have as far as the electronics goes (minus the solenoid). It's NASTY. And that is putting it...

Jimmbo, Thanks for the link to PDF and info on foot oil. Jimmbo and racerone, I have the control boxes for the F and R. Now if they work I have no ideal. But I'm keeping my fingers and eyes crossed hoping that they are. I have both generators (hope they work) and one belt. At least I can...

1972 Johnson 85 HP (85ESL72R) No Spark, stuck

I replaced stator and regulator a few years back on my 110hp. CDI told me the number one reason the regulator and stator burn up is the wing nuts on battery. Meaning not having a good connection to battery posts will cause the charging components to fry. Ever since then I've put regular battery...

    1989 evinrude 25hp ignition/starter issue

Could be bad solenoid. Could be a bad key switch. Could be wires going to solenoid from key switch. If you leave boat out in elements. Rain and whatnot. It could mess up your key switch. Key switch gives a small amount of amps to wire on solenoid in key "start" position. That complete a...

I just bought a set of matching 1962 Johnson 40HP outboards along with the power control box. Looks like they were stored in a barn for years. Rats scat and time has taken their toll on them. But they are not locked up. Wiring will all have to be replaced. Where should I start. I have a Seloc...

    1979 eska/sears 217.585831 set points

This motor a 1979 7.5hp sears hasn't been started in over 2 years. Cleaned and THOUGHT I set the points right but it wants to kick back when it starts. Using 40:1 fuel mix. There was a triangle on the cam roller. I put the points arm just to the left of the cam roller is that right? But I found...

    Sears/McCulloch 7.5 spurting out pee-hole/lots of questions

I have a Sears (McCulloch) 7.5 electric start model number 574.60210. From what I can find it is from 1969. Should also be the same thing as a McCulloch 81635. Electric start does work but doesn't charge. Pretty sure it's a fuse issue. work on that later. Will also add rechargeable batteries in...

1959 Johnson 18hp Carb cleaning and adjustments (manual)

Re: 1959 Johnson 18hp Carb cleaning and adjustments (manual) I'm no expert here but sounds like you have a lot of little troubles. lets work on them one at a time. 1. if the engine is installed on a pontoon how do you control the throttle. By cable? If so it may be that the cable is binding...

HELP! JANE! Stop this crazy thing! 62 Erude Lark 6

Re: HELP! JANE! Stop this crazy thing! 62 Erude Lark 6 Thanks for the reply tx1961whaler. I will have the add the points wires to the locations you described. Then check the rest. The throttle position switch does not make contact throttle position arm. Is that easy to adjust? Will get...
