    Sea-fire alarm on start up

our older boats (no Mercs) have no audible alarms (that works for us), when we put in a newer fuel pump couple years ago, it has its own alarm, which turns off when it senses sufficient fuel pressure - a guest has never asked why the system-check noise - but if one did, I'd tell 'em it's a good...

Removal of Flex Seal coating from hull?

The discussions regarding hydraulics and flow of fluids against solids are always interesting. Fluids can be liquids or gases. The variables in the governing equations are the same - fluid densities, velocities, roughness coefficients, and your objectives are important when looking to apply...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

The dual battery switch, with an off position, when switched off - allows you to be sure you didn't leave anything on draining a battery - and is kinda a "poor man's security system" (especially when it's out of view)

and consider how far away the load will be lifted from the center of the lifting structure (moment-arm) and the overturning forces the boat will see (if the lifting-structure doesn't fail)

    Wellcraft hulls

Ya I think wood core in this 1998 Wellcraft 240SE (pic is engine room when engine was pulled in 2015). Not sure the what time period is when 95% of glass boats were wood- structured, but pretty sure this one is.

2850 Bayliner B command Bridge question

It could be a great find, it could be someone trying to get rid if their disposal expense - can't tell from here. If you're unsure of that, post some pics of the whole thing then closer and closer in the engine room and transom exterior. Paperwork/proof of ownership can be a thing too.

    Serial id. Help

that looks like the hardware that was on an 80's aluminum I/O outdrive with a 9.9 hp kicker (trolling motor in those days for the Lake) - it was the hardware that connected the drive to the kicker so you could steer the tillered kicker with the outdrive (steering wheel)

    Fuel cap filler location

The one that over-flowed, how may gallons before it overflowed? Hopefully it was the correct fuel-fill location, and you have a crimped or plugged fuel-fill pipe; Suggest you don't introduce any ignition source to the fueled-area until you know what happened. Gasoline vapors with an ignition...

    2024 Super Bowl !!

Also hoping for a good game, high-level football pitting the best players against each other in any good league, is so fun to watch. The Admiral and I, and our Family, are Bills fans - so we are pulling for the 9 ers this evening - but mostly for a good, close football game.

    Just curious

I think it's similar to the progression of any machines used by people. As the machines are made for more people to use, more people use them, and there ya go... Think of the progression of cars, and the people that operate those machines, that used to only start by hand-crank
