    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

That list is getting short! I'd probably move that Splashwell installation down a bit to delay ladder-boarding/unboarding of the vessel for as long as possible.

    Questions about my hull

Welcome to the Starmada! We don't discriminate the SC stepkids! We refer to the bottom one as a keel and the 4 others as lifting strakes. Not to be a debbie downer...hopefully this is an optical illusion from the reflection but this looks similar to the creasing I had on my outer line of...

    1972 Starcraft Nova

That's a big Nova! Beautiful hulls...and yours has the spray rail bracing. For Vinyl, you can't go wrong with Nautolex. Most of us have been getting it for years from Defender. Your cutout recovery looks "factree"!

Looking to buy an older Starcraft - Do you know this dash?

ah man...I kinda like the avocado seats 😁! Hopefully they addressed the cause and not just the symptoms. Besides just looking for new transom wood, fasteners, etc, a test would be grabbing hold of that outboard leg when it's tilted, push in and out and see if the transom flexes. If it...

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

Had I known that it was a contest with an impressive title, I wouldn't have stopped at 15 patches 🤣! Nice patchwork @dizzyspots!

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Only if you can reach both sides. The bucking bar requires a special touch/feel since it needs to bounce while the gun needs to be held firm to the rivet head.

    New Journey

that workbench is going to be stout! Man...worst of both foam worlds...soggy pour-in foam AND styrene balls clogging up the limber holes. Hopefully the corrosion will be minimal!

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

The outer chine on my 18SS was already compromised so the redundancy was justified in my mind. The spray rail brace also adds rigidity to the outer chine since I added the bottom tab (like the factory fixes in late '78). That said, the vertical riser + plate scheme that I added should be...

My First StarCraft; 1975 18' SuperSport

I hope everyone is doing well. Spring is right around the corner! I Just wanted to pop-up a quick response for @crankbait cowboy on how I kept the bend in my bow panels after sealing. I ripped some relief cuts in some exterior 1/2" PLY except where carriage bolts go through. I basically...

1975 Starcraft SS 16' Freshen Up

Blinds with 5200 should be fine as long as the holes aren't hogged out too bad. Otherwise you may need to rivet on an external patch. Another option is that you can trim some of your back deck...enough to fit a bucking bar allowing you to address those holes with solid rivets. Peel the carpet...

1973 starcraft ss restore in progress

if that doesn't work, you can try ripping relief cuts. I'm trying this with 1/2" exterior PLY which will get soaked with several coats of "Old Timer's Formula".

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

I used mechanical (Nyalox cup brush & a dremel to dig) means to remove the visible alumina (Al2O3). I then surgically attacked each area using the West Systems 860 Aluminum etch kit (MSDS link). Part A is a phosphoric acid for cleaning and Part B is a Chromate conversion step similar to...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

They're some good bucktails! After about 500, I realized that my gun pressure was way too high...backing off to 40-50psi seems to be the sweet spot with my setup.

1978 18ft Mariner: Getting Ready for June 2021 Splash..!!!

I rigged up a hot wire cutter (26awg Stainless Steel + a 12v battery charger); it made the cutting somewhat therapeutic...so the time just flew by! All paths to the bilge are unobstructed. Outside of the main stringers, I laid a piece of foam board horizontally which gets propped up by the rib...

1978 18ft Mariner: Getting Ready for June 2021 Splash..!!!

That green stuff looks like pool-noodle material...big sponges. I used nearly every bit of (4) 4x8 2" and (2) 4x8 1" XPS sheets to do my '75 18'SS.

Looking to buy an older Starcraft - Do you know this dash?

Welcome! That's a really nice Rig! I love the faux wood laminate on the gunnels...really ties things together. You may have lucked out with that motor in that it appears to NOT be electric shift (I think i see a power pilot controller). Now for the honeymoon ender...this splashwell crack...

It's an inspiration that your grandfather is still that active...also, with those genes, it's good that you're building your boat to last! I actually forgot about Pap's land yacht until I got addicted to Vice Grips Garage on youtube. Now a guy wants a classic in his garage to wrench on 🤣 ...
