    That is also an old wives tale. When Evinrude went to 50-1 in 1964 they did not re engineer the whole line. Just changed the oil. When they went to the E-tec, they used the existing 60 degree block.

    Check your stator and flywheel. Do a compression and spark check. Is the link and sync correct? Outer layer still on the cam roller?

    You could find whatever Chinese company made the powerhead and see if they have parts. That is nothing more than a 4 strk with a fancy fuel system.

    I can pretty much guarantee you are not idling at 25 degrees. Look to make sure the carbs are opening all the way. Do a spark test and compression test. if they put CDI parts on, a thorough test of those are in order.

    It depends on the 2 strk and the injection system. If your motor injects into the fuel line as a VRO or most Mercury carbed motors do, then I would not.     Regardless of it having a thermostat or not it should be pumping water. Revisit your impeller work. It also does not need the prop on to pump water.

    Running in neutral means nothing. Does spark jump a 7/16 air gap? Carbs opening all the way? Have you tried a different tank and hose? Link and sync done? Roller on the cam have it's outer layer? What is your compression? Timer base moving freely?

    Do another compression test and make sure your starter is turning fast enough. All plugs must be out for a compression test. If you are using the autoblend system throw it away as soon as possible.
