Are you saying the timing at idle is 25 BTDC ? Sounds like you got scammed by the dealer. I'd start by demanding your money back. Then fix it yourself with help from forum.

You're right Dave and thanks. To the right of the flywheel timing marks is a white dot at 8 degrees. It's supposed to be set between 7 & 9 degrees BTDC It only goes to 20 I think to the right. To the left 0 TDC it goes to 40 I believe but my timing light showers it to the left of the TDC mark at 25?

is 8 degrees before TDC to the right of 0 TDC ? if so it's marked right. But timing light showing 25 to the left of flywheel markings 0 TDC ?

Since the flywheel spins clockwise, BeforeTDC is on the left and AfterTDC is on the right. I would think 25 BTDC would be the max timing setting with the idle timing setting in the 0 TDC range and possibly even ATDC a few degrees but I don't have your motors specs in front of me.

I can pretty much guarantee you are not idling at 25 degrees. Look to make sure the carbs are opening all the way. Do a spark test and compression test. if they put CDI parts on, a thorough test of those are in order.

Flyingscott, I had to take a couple of day break from it. But I was going out in a few to check it out. I put two new CDI on it before shop. And the carburetor is open 100 % at full throttle, now. I don't think I can adjust the link enough to get it to 7 to 9 BTDC. I'm going to take the top plug out and verify TDC. The flywheel was put on before I bought it and it looks like it may have come off while running with some pretty good scraps in the metal between the flywheel and oil tank bracket which I didn't notice at the time. Just checked compression. The flywheel looks brand new but I guess it's possible it spun in the center since I verified it's the correct one.
I will keep ya'll posted today after these checks. I really appreciate any and all the help. Beamer50

If you find the pointer is off then you should pull the flywheel to check the condition of the flywheel key. If the key is damaged and the flywheel spun, that is even more reason to demand your money back from the scammers at the dealer.

Thanks, Dave, and they are scammers, I just pulled # 1 top cyc. this is a 2 cylinder. and it is on 0 TDC with piston up. So that rules that out. The timing is showing 20 degrees BTDC. I cannot adjust the trigger link enough to even get close to 7 to 9 BTDC which is what the Seloc manual calls for???

Did the timing arm come loose from the trigger? Post a picture of the side of the motor with the timing arm.

Dave, take a look at the bottom end of the trigger link, it's very close, touching the rubber stop???

Looks like something is missing from your linkages. I think it's missing a part that connects the throttle to the timing.

Post a picture with it in the full throttle position.

Man, I'm scared to take it to a dealer now. They already robbed me. I told um a good mercury mechanic should be able to sync one carb & time it in 45 mins. But you charged me 2 hrs. labor. Well, it takes longer than you think. I said I'm glad it doesn't have 3 or 4 carbs. I know this is a good buddy help forum but there's a nice Amazon Card for you. I guess it's ok to gift??
