1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

A little advice if I may. If you have the time to wet sand and buff the cap before you put it on, your arms will thank you. I was in too much of a rush to get my cap on, and I sure wish I did my sanding and buffing with the cap at waist-height. Glad you're back to making progress !

'65 Lyn Craft Seabreeze 1500 Sport Runabout

LOL. I used to say that to my wife all the time, although when I said it they literally didn't know.... "The neighbors don't know it yet but WE are tuning the race car in the driveway today." Congrats on the progress.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

And here is where all the late nights and lost weekends all make sense. Camped over the Memorial Day weekend at a 1,110 acre COE lake. My two sons (21 & 16) both learned how to wakeboard and we had some fun fishing. My boys are persistent if not kinda nuts, the weather was crap and the water...

    Exhaust Elbow Riser ?

Sorry, I missed your question until now. I did not yet measure the Y-pipe. However, I did replace one hose when installing the V8 as one I had was cut. I ordered and installed a 4" hose and it fit perfect, just like the original on the opposite side. I've ordered and received a 24" long Shields...

    Larson rub rail

If it's the same as my 1990 Larson, I just replaced it with >>>>> https://tacomarine.com/rub-rail-vinyl-inserts-v12-0317 Worked perfect. My originals pictured below. Good Luck

Another v6 to v8 swap question

I used the "V6" mounts. I believe they are the same, regardless, I used the V6 mounts, all the accessory brackets, Alternator, PS pump, etc. etc. One thing to remember, the 4.3 V6 is Literally a Chevy V8 with one set of cylinders removed. Not much engineering happened when GM made it. lol

Another v6 to v8 swap question

The above is correct, but I'll add one correction to your post. The engine does not sit higher for a V8. The engine dimensions / mounts from a 4.3 to 5.7 are exactly the same except the 5.7 is 4" longer. I just did this swap.

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

I saw a spare tire carrier through e-trailer (I think), that had a loaded hub as the mount for the spare. I thought it was a good idea. Maybe you can modify your tire carrier to do the same. Also, I've had my boat on the lake 3 times now, this weekend was the first time I remembered to raise the...

    Edelbrock 1409 woes

Hook a hot wire from a switch to the "86" pin on the fuel pump relay, use a diode so it doesn't back feed. It will power the pump while while on, if you make it a momentary switch , you won't forget and leave it on. There should be a fix for the fuel evaporating though.

    Exhaust Elbow Riser ?

I have a rear header that the shifter cable is 1" from now. I have plenty of room to raise the elbows, but the not the cable. Easy fix though. Thanks

    Exhaust Elbow Riser ?

Thanks for the replies. Ordered a Barr replacement 3" riser kit today. Luckily my rubber connectors are 4" on both ends, I ordered a sierra marine 4" hose 24" long. I will make a bracket to mount the shift bracket in the stock-ish location. Piece of mind.

    Exhaust Elbow Riser ?

I have a 1990 Larson DC190. Originally came with a 4.3 , during my rebuild I replaced the broken V6 with a 5.7 V8. An approximate additional weight of 125lbs. I'm running through drive exhaust. The original setup did not use any exhaust riser spacers, just the elbow direct to manifold. I've...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Nice, we camp once a year in Lake George with family. Maybe we'll have enough time to haul the boat up with us.

Determining Whether or not to Rebuild 1990 17' Larson

To be honest, I was working on it every free minute in those 5 months. Even working on "little" things during my lunch hour (Cough-- hour and a half--cough). I'm the type that really dives into a project. I have too much OCD and too little patience, lol.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Thanks ! I actually read through your thread this am when I saw it popped up on "new threads" as you began posting again. I really like your boat and build too. I see you're further downstate. My wife grew up in Warwick, up near Middletown.

Determining Whether or not to Rebuild 1990 17' Larson

I just finished a 1990 Larson 190DC https://forums.iboats.com/threads/restoring-a-1990-larson.741569/. While I knew the issues when I bought my boat...they sound the very same as yours. Expect a complete gut as I assume you are aware of now. The reason I redid mine instead of buying something...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

The winter's are becoming less and less fun the more I age. That's why I hole up in the garage and do a project every year, LOL.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

We took the boat out for the second trip this weekend and it runs excellent. We did encounter one issue. Last week during the initial splash I towed it to a small lake (340 acres) that is usually not busy with my 3/4 ton pickup, but we put it in and out with my wife's Explorer. She met us there...
