Fuel Tank Shape - Lesson Learned

I use painters plastic in Lou of saran wrap, not as prone to tear. Why could you not lay your plastic down for a barrier... Then apply a liberal amount of 5200 or marine PL on your tank pads, set your tank in place on top of the plastic let it settle in place and cure, mark exactly where you...

    core replacement, epoxy test panels

So far you have been given top, sound advise. I must admit, I have NOT used any of the new hybrid cloths such as 1700 or 1708. I have played with Epoxy and CSM and it's "ok" not the best... not a fail.. just like I said ok. but it takes working and giving it time to sit and soak in. Most of what...

Hull balsa core rotten, what next?

A hammer check for Rot in not the most accurate (at best) Stringers saturated in water can "sound solid" Also the fiberglass throws a little deceit in there as well. Only time I could say you could Halfway trust that method is, if the wood core was completely gone and it sounded hollow. Drill...

Hello Brother... PC-11 is good stuff, Been years since I used any. its pretty much like JB weld. Another thing That I'm doing right now and have done in the past for other areas, with good results. I use my collected saw dust and sandings and mix with epoxy. some call this wood flour. (Some...

1969 Mako cut and gut project by Lectro88

I started working on that garbage marine plywood this week. Had several setbacks, but 5 days later,. I'm not going to say its done, but its covered 4-5 layer and the voids have been poured with milled fibers and epoxy, everything is epoxy, took 2-3 ozs. on the 1 edge to finally fill up. This...

Best way to repair corrosion on aluminum boat

Now Scott... I'm not sure everyone will understand your Analogy. Or understand what 00 buck will do, or is capable of. (to a boat or anything else) could you maybe spell it out for the sheltered or slow group. *and if that didn't tip the grumpy scale* {I have others} (i think you know, i'm...

just asking, What about a Thread for Free, Cheap, Abandoned, I just got this great deal on a boat.

Two Layers of 3/4 CSM versus One Layer of 1.5 CSM

There are dozens of ways to do almost anything. You could add some support to this lid, as in almost stringers or maybe ribs is another way to say it, attached to the bottom of lid and then you could almost, probably get by with 1/2" ply.. an inch or 2" rib stiffens things up pretty quick...

    dead kittens

They may not all be together or in same place, 1 on this side another other side. and 1 at the absolute furtherest point away. kittens are notorious for this crap, getting stuck in tight places. Mom may not could fit to follow. But you have a very small window of time to deal with this. After a...

Two Layers of 3/4 CSM versus One Layer of 1.5 CSM

Not sure why you haven't gotten any replies. I'm not 100% sure, but here's my 1/2 cents opinion. There is a binder in csm that is dissolved by poly... and 1 layer or 3 whatever. you're building to get a certain amount of material.... and resin. And it requires "X amount" of resign per said...

Any lasting proven method of painting a prop ??

You beat me to it.. My thoughts exactly. Kinda glad I didn't have to list it as opinions weren't so welcome. And for what its worth, any paint "YOU" put on probably won't fair well. maybe a good epoxy paint, but I wouldn't start to tell you how to do it and waste my time.
