My ears Ring constantly, and sometime its worse than other times. Think its called Tennis Itus A racquet in my ears,. there's that twisted humor again. a high pitch schril, or alarm, like nails on a chalk board. The Doc's want me to get them, But I don't want the look on me or the the look...

Just a minute to say Thank you.

2 years or so I had 0 knowledge about boat repairs. I'm not going to name any names for fear of leaving someone out. (This means You) But there are 100's of iBoats members on here that have helped me, (some no longer here) I am nowhere near expert.. But I am nowhere Near where I was 2 years ago...

1966 Dorsett San Juan 19' Full Restoration

True that. I try and give or get a chuckle from time to time and try and be mindful and not insult while doing so. But I have humor like my lumber,.. it can be "Twisted" at times. But "My" keyboard lingo and how 5 people read it, and take it.. Could be 8 different reactions.

I too had little epoxy experience except remote airplane building back in the 80’s And that was apple’s and oranges compared to this. Another reason why I Over Do everything is I don’t know or this is foreign to my specialty’s. So I choose more rather than less. I would totally trust “walking”...

    Window question.

You made all good points. The 1 thing I will add and this is strictly a guess. Maybe they used something better than silicon or rtv. Could they have used 5200 or equivalent. Polyurethane is the good stuff used on roofing by the “folks that know” I myself wouldn’t use silicone on a boat...

Yes, at some point. Everything I have done has been "epoxy" Now knowing epoxy is not UV friendly,. after the fact... And there are some weathered areas on transom, you can see the dark lines if you enlarge pics. But anyway, I plan to sand the whole thing "clean" again and I have some said "UV"...

I know I'm slow and Picky. But I got the grinding and sanding done. And It ended up being worse after I started grinding than what pics showed and what I had thought. Some of the epoxy was like jelly or silicone... I think fumed silica was the culprit. Only place I used it and only place I had...

1966 Dorsett San Juan 19' Full Restoration

I don't know anything about that boat or how it's built. But I do know that I have pulled 2 caps so far,. and it makes things so much easier. But... I have an unfair advantage., Midi(Tad larger than)mini excavator. Look things over and figure what is easiest and labor positive in your favor. And...

How would you do this transom?

Not to high jack, just showing you the stringer I built for my boat like that. Its a 1x12" tapered and lammed with 1x4"s each side.. just because. wider area to glue to from top side and un-needed strength. And 4-5 coats of epoxy before any glass.

How would you do this transom?

Exactly, stand it straight up if needed( I've done that)or put it on its back, belly up. And... do it with no help.

How would you do this transom?

That boat looks exactly like my Pisces "back burner" when I'm not doing anything else project. Also, **nice excavator" in background. use that to pull cap, thats what I did. And Correction. I may have got took.. but 3/4" Marine just cost me $175 for a sheet

Floatation Foam Removal Without Pulling the Cap on a 1984 Glasstream Hydrabass 1700

The other thing to keep in mind. If you have wet foam, the water is already in. And freezing with weather changes causes more foam to rupture like a drink left in the freezer. so it "can" grow every year if its fed or water is/can have access. Also you digging around in this foam is creating...

    Gloves for Acetone Washing?

The thicker orange or yellow gloves that are used for washing dishes is what I use and they hold up well for my needs. Grocery store, wally, box stores all carry them.

    waterlogged hull

You can look at my thread it will give you an idea. I have pulled cap and removed all foam down to bare fiberglass. Replaced transom, and starting stringers. For what its worth. The only way to fix waterlogged foam is dig it out. Drilling holes will "drip" a minute excess amount and tell you...

1969 Mako cut and gut project by Lectro88

I didn't realize that I had delamed glass on under side of transom. Glad I did this. My reason is clean up sharp finger getters and sand/grind that white epoxy from fumed silica and add a few extra layers of glass and epoxy just for fun and giggles. Truth is I just wasn't satisfied with how it...
