Why don't I see more jet motors?

Oh good luck with that one kid. You really think its just that easy to get a deal on an outboard. Order it from singapore ?? And hope you get it? Jets loose 1/3 of their power, so it will be like a 15 hp motor. Plus, control and maneuverability are poor. You have to be powered up to steer...

    Spark plug wire resistance. 75hp

Should be pure copper , non resistance plug wires. NOT high resistance auto wires. I sounds like you have the correct wires. If you use high resistance auto type wires, you will destroy your ignition components.

1989force outboard not firing on all cylinders

Welcome to iboats Poorman. ( aren't we all?) Gonna guess you have a bad cd module, with no output to the bottom cylinder. The good news, is that each of the 2 cd modules has 2 outputs, and you only need 3 of them for your 3 cylinder engine. You can try the unused output. Or you can swap the 2...

    No Fire To Plugs

Welcome to iboats Ray. Thats a lot of replacing. and some $$$ No offense but that Leaves lots of opportunities to factor in human error. Double check every connection and color code from the wiring diagram. Ground wires ? Ignition switch connections and Kill switch circuit ?

    90 Force 90 HP....water pump?

clattin, your video link is broken, at least for me. I haven't seen a 1990-1992 Force with a traditional telltale water stream like the one shown in ninny's video. This is what you should be seeing.: The water dribbles or splatters out of the exhaust relief holes on the back of the...

    3M 5200 and Aluminum...

I see 1 guy on that forum that has this claim, and some 1500 saying to use 5200. I think the guy sells boat life caulk, which has got to be the worst crud I have ever tried to apply.

Can't find one at your house or in the boat? Or can't find one at the store? Or the stores are locked down? go to a boat ramp and buy a plug from a fellow boater that has spares. $5 and a six pack will get you a plug just about anywhere.

Running poorly after being stored for winter

Suspect gas not getting through carb(s). Partial blockage causing a lean condition which will give you the high idle. The same lack of gas will keep engine from reaching full throttle rpm's. Disassemble and clean out the carbs, try not to damage gaskets, float, or needle valve or you will be...

Height of transom to waterline when resting in water

I've had several Starcraft, Alumacraft, and Spectrum boats, that water came up to or into the splash well drain holes. You should be fine. One of my current boats has a very shallow splash well (3-4" ) and it's only 11" front to back, so I must be careful to not back into a large swell or wave.

Help! Can't find HIN on Chris Craft Scorpion 210

    1986 Force 125 hp popping

Sounds like a sheared flywheel key, which will throw off the timing, causing it to backfire. Remove flywheel and check the key, replace it needed, then torque the flywheel nut really fn tight. (can't remember - 80 ft# ?? ) Gonna have to check/reset timing. Should get yourself a repair manual if...

    Transducer cable through transom?

I wouldn't feel safe in a boat if it didn't have at least a few holes in it.

Newbie owner looking for boat specific details

First off, welcome to iboats. "I know I can flip it for a profit in it's current state." That would be a good idea. :) Most of the time a boat rots from the bottom up. So if the floor is soft, it is likely that the stringers and the lower transom are already rotted. Along with saturated...

Did I make a bad mistake?

The goofy sparkplugs are called surface gap plugs. they've been around for years. No gap to set, just clean them off and look for the electrode to be worn away.
