White Smoke on First Start on Muffs

That's not smoke, it is steam / water vapor. What was the temp outside during startup. Cool and kind of humid ??? Then that is normal, especially with the exhaust tube on there. Can see plenty of water coming out the exhaust ports.

    Mercruiser 4.3 oil gauge mystery

On the back of the tach is a selector switch for what type engine it is used on ie: 4-6-8 cyl. With a small screwdriver, move that switch back and forth from one end to the other and reset to the engine type you have. Then try it again. Corrosion builds on the contacts of the switch wiper / pads...

Help identifying which 454/ 7.4L engine this is?

I have a '95 GenV block 454 Mag, basically what you have, with some special parts. GREAT engine if the maintenance is done religiously. Be religious in changing oil, using premium gaskets where needed, if you have the raw water and mechanical fuel pump drive, change the oil in it every year...

    Raw water pump

For missing impeller parts, the 1st parking spot for them is the power steering and oil coolers. How was city water connected to the system when running on the hose, through the strainer or the drive leg? (having trouble following the run on description) A very small air leak anywhere in the...

Help identifying which 454/ 7.4L engine this is?

That engine is crazy clean. Rust at the manifold / elbow joint can be cleaned up. On next maintenance cycle, you can split them, clean up, prime and paint, then install new "GOOD" OEM graphite gaskets (not the green paper ones) and reassemble. Those capped off fittings are normal for a raw...

    Changing remote controls?

Looking at the pictures, those are standard Nylock nuts (locknuts with nylon insert) on rusted bolts. Spray with good penetrating oil and let soak. Rinse and repeat. Should be able to grab the bolt head from the back with a box wrench and work those nuts off.

    bilge problem

Non Volatile RAM. Maintains last known state when power is removed as opposed to volatile, which looses last known state if powered off. This is why some electronics, such as PCs laptops that have a "Cmos" battery to maintain the Bios.

    bilge problem

90% of the newer radios require a constant 12V to maintain memory, but I would guess it would be very close to 0 of a drain.
