94 chaparral 1930 ss with 4.3 prop help

Just to comment on your go-fast approach....you are aware that a small bump in power isn't going to translate to a large bump in speed correct? Cause that doesn't translate from the car world to the boat world. My FourWinns in my sig ran 55mph and that was a 5.0mpi pushing 270HP. Very similar...

    New boater- help needed

Bass boat...probably has livewell plumbing....which is probably decayed/cracked/about to fail....which is letting the water in. Just a guess. You'd have to have access to the plumbing lines to confirm this. Other possibility, seeing its a bass boat, is it hit something on the keel/hull bottom...

    Boat wakes

Ok...since we're discussing this.... Draft on a Nautique boat, G21 as published, is 31.5". There's maybe 24" of water where I dock and fish. Where am I gaining that extra depth? Answer is the prop and rudder are sitting on the bottom, which is typically rock. Bending something is gonna happen...

    Find us the right boat

What motor? Volvo? Merc? Volvo Penta are truly smooth running critters. The problem in my neck of the woods is finding a dealer who will service it. That is the main problem with Volvo Penta....well and they like to charge a 2-3x premium over comparable Merc parts. IF you have the marina...

    Boat wakes

Hit a rock pile or submerged stump with a true inboard and you've bent the prop shaft and more than likely disabled steering. That doesn't sound like a fun way to fish....which is what we mainly do from our boat. Has nothing to do with the size of the boat, everything to do with the propulsion...

    Boat wakes

In my case, the next boat is going to be outboard powered as I like the winterization process much better. That and I do miss my Honda 4 stroke. I can comment on the tubing portion, you're only going up to 20mph (read your safety label) so you're not on plane, which translates to a decent...

    MO no title registration

Ted has ya covered. For the trailer, far as homemade....in my state, you need to produce receipts for ALL materials purchased in order to declare "homemade". Then, if I have it correct, it needs to go to a special inspection station for review where they would then issue a VIN for the trailer...

    Launching/retrieving with FWD

I hate to state the obvious but..... This died a quiet death back in April. It was just resurrected yesterday - almost 3 months later. OP hasn't been back. Think we can safely put this to rest no??

    Winch Strap longevity

Mine was original on the FourWinns when I traded it in. So that's 12 years. 3 months is awfully short. Sounds defective/under rated for load.

    Help identifying this 60s boat.

So he has no standing to sell/trade the boat until the paperwork is in place. IF it were me, the current seller gets the paperwork in their name BEFORE I take delivery (so that I can legally register the boat/trailer) OR I walk away. I want that slip of paper that says I legally own it before...

    Help identifying this 60s boat.

In my state....that would be title jumping which is highly frowned upon. Again in my state, depending on the DMV rep you got, they may/would turn you away to get the documented owner to sign over the boat....that's who's on the title/transferable registration. So....does the person you're...

Do you use non ethanol gas ?

Ethanol free for the boat. I don't use that much during the season so its a non-issue cost wise. E10 for the lawnmower and snowblower. I use a 5 gal gas can, add stabil, and then top the tanks from that. Every season, each starts 1-2 pulls in.

    Hydrofoil/Whale Tail Good or Bad

They were all the rage back in the 80's/90's. Some people still swear by them - usually on smaller/underpowered boats. I've personally never run one...the thought of drilling into the leg just doesn't sit well with me. Your mileage may vary and it may very well work for your particular setup...

    Plane issue

Ayuh...cause at 5mph you're not on plane, you're starting your climb out of the hole. This climb will point your bow up. Lower than that, you're just plowing water as the motor isn't providing enough thrust to get it up. Higher than that and you're probably out of the hole and actually on plane...

Rapid trailer jerk at higher speeds

I'm still shocked we're still on the trailer being the issue as OP has mentioned several times now that the trailer towed with his/her OLD vehicle fine but with the NEW vehicle it suddenly has an issue. U-haul, Budget, Enterprise (for an additional fee) all have full sized pickup trucks with...

1979 Ranger Aztec 1750v restoration and parts

Salvage yard IF you're lucky. IF you have a decent plastics shop nearby, they may be able to make something for you based off what's left.

    Stolen!!!

Honestly, no. Not even OPP in the Great White North. OPP was more interested in whether we had our Canadian fishing license and/or tags or not. But for those hell bent on saying a light isn't tall enough....just lengthen the darn pole and extend the wiring. Easy peasy.

    Boat tool box

I used to carry spare fuses (new boat is all circuit breakers). Also set of screw drivers, socket set, zip ties, and pliers. Beyond that...I have a cell phone to call for further help.
