    Rinker Captiva

JB...screw off cover that appears to be in the bow/mid section of the boat. OP...does the drain happen to be anywhere near the glovebox? Some boats had overboard drains for the glovebox to double as a cooler. My Bayliner had that going off memory. Think the Fourwinns did too.

    2017 Stingray 198 LX

I wouldn't waste my time looking for one as it's more likely to contain the boating do's and don'ts. Pointy end goes towards where you want to go. Don't hit anything. CO poisoning. etc. Inserts may have been included to go over trailer, radio, and cleaning vinyl. Quickest way to find out what...

    First Aid Kit

We have an incredibly basic kit (Wally World purchase) in a hard case. Admiral is thinking of getting a tackle box and building her own kit with stuff we need/use. I'd add a very good set of tweezers to it - I bought mine through MicroMark.

What did you do to your boat today?

Nada. Zero. Zippo. Still in shrink-wrap and not even registered. **Youngest son has a broken arm so no life jacket / boating for him for a bit. Seeing that we can't exclude him, it sits...for now. Find out in a few weeks how much longer his arm is in a sling.

    Sea Dek or the equivalent

SeaDek uses 3M adhesive tape on the back of its product to adhere to the deck. It's peel & stick. Same for the Amazon stuff. I will say after following their installation instructions, the SeaDek swim pad is still stuck - installed in 2018 - and hasn't had any issues with corners peeling. This...

    Any upstate NYers around?

And there ya go. Hop off I-81 at A-bay, take Rt 12 S towards Clayton. Thousand Islands Bait Store is the place to shop if you're doing any kind of fishing or want a Nav map for the River. About 1 mile on your right is Gals ice cream. A bit further down on the left is Clayton Distillery and they...

    Any upstate NYers around?

Chautauqua Lake has a ferry that crosses it. No idea on cost, just had to dodge it a few times I've been out there. Chautauqua Institute is there. https://www.tourchautauqua.com/destinations/chautauqua-lake I'm further North in Lockport (Locks 55 & 56 on the Erie Canal are right in the city)...

    Any upstate NYers around?

I'd look around Chataqua Lake if you're toting a boat with you. Probably 1.5 Hours to the border straight up I-90 and catch the Peace Bridge off I-190. Other option might be to look in Olcott which is right on Lake Ontario. There is a town launch, last I was there it was $7 fee to launch.

    Inboard/ I/O Engine Hoist Ideas?

I've used a solid adult tree to move things much heavier than a dressed engine. Can be done in a pinch.

New prop & hub yet I still have minimal speed

This the boat? https://forums.iboats.com/threads/1967-sea-star-mustang.765870/ Cause if it is, and unless the camera is playing funny tricks, it appears your cav plate is MUCH lower then the keel of the boat. It's submerged 6-12" below. If that's the case, you're MUCH too deep and a prop isn't...

    1990 Wellcraft 223 Eclipse

Dunno about that. My cousin's 200/210 Searay deck boat had the center walkthrough glass shatter during a frantic recovery effort - got caught in a freak storm that blew up out of no where. Wind caught the walkthrough and slammed it shut, shattered the glass instantly. Repair cost, for just...

    Tow rope to Talon bracket?

Couple passes and I see that bracket cutting right through the rope as you have it now. You need a different solution. 2nd boat just for tubing? :)

    1988 HarborCraft?

What does the registering authority say it is? You have the MO registration number (which appears to be somewhat current) and it should have a HID in the back right on the outside of the transom. They should be able to tell you some info from that. Otherwise...old boat, needs plenty of...

    Grady transom repair

Miss Morgan and Fuugly by archbuilder (he still around??) are two boats I know of here that have used SeaCast extensively. I'm sure there are others. I know nothing of the Carbon product but if its similar makeup I would expect similar results.

Does this seem right to you?

Pretty sure mine did move a bit side to side. Not sure it was that much though.

    1986 Beachcraft 170

Gotta drill as tap test won't tell ya bupkiss. 1/4" drill bit, down low. Shavings come out wet, you know you have issues. Shavings come out dry, 4200 sealant and call it a day. The M is just a model designation. If you look at my sig, all the modern boats had some sort of designation LE, LS...

1993 Glastron 175 SSV Elite dashboard switches

If you have a livewell, one probably controls that. Depending on the boat, you may have a couple empty switches that go to nothing - for use with accessories you'd install after purchase.

    Ok. Trailer time!

Just going to correct this a touch. My tandem trailer with brakes under the FourWinns had BOTH a registration and title. The registration was NOT transferable. My current trailer under the Chap is transferable registration. This is a single axle trailer with brakes. So it depends. This is in...

    Buying my first fishing boat

Some of the fondest memories on boats were on my uncle's 16' Starcraft with 9.9HP Evinrude (tiller steer). We didn't break any speed records but with him at the throttle, my sister and all my cousins crammed in we had a blast. I wouldn't trade that for anything. My 2 uncles and my cousin now...

Who wants to play "Your opinion MIGHT matter"?

More modern, as in last 10 years, deckboats and pontoons both meet those specs. Bayliner's deck boats you can spec out with trolling motor and livewell. Pontoons you need to find one with a fishing setup - think Tracker toons here, fishing barge. Heck my current boat meets your must...
