Seeking advice on seemingly large hull/structural repair! Help please! 1979 Marquis Catalina.

I'm all for repairing old things (my 78 Trans Am was a total basket case), but this might be one of those cases where pulling the motor/controls and dumpsterizing the rest might be in your best interest. As mentioned, that's a total gut job and a heap of work from inside and outside the boat...

    Shorelandr trailer vin help

Manufacturer's Statement of Origin...MSO. My guess, and its a W.A.G., is that the bonded plate money refers to bonding the trailer/boat for X number of days to prove ownership. Just a guess. Your registering authority can provide more information as to what exactly is needed. Usually best to...

    1990 1800SL owners manual

How to operate the boat....ie, don't hit stuff, don't fill with engine running/people onboard, CO warning, rules of navigation. That's generally what's in the owner's manual. Rare to find something of use in them. I had to download ALL of my accessory manuals for my Chap - Fish Finder, Radio, etc.

    MacBook Pro . . . Tragedy

Beyond the HD being suspect, might look at the cooling on the mac. I know the Dell's I service after shorter periods of times have clogged cooling fins/fans which can cause the same symptoms. Might be something to look at on the mac - might be an overheat type of situation too.

Looking for a 35 to 38 foot boat that I can trailer

In that class of boat, you're looking at overwide permits to trailer it.

    transom repair options

I wouldn't do it. You're cutting into the hull of the boat for what purpose? Gonna be a chore and a half getting that lined back up and gelcoat color matched. Not to mention having to wrap your outside fiberglass around the corners and keel of the boat. What exactly do you think you're saving...

    Nobody fishing?

My son did at Scout Camp. I find that counselor, we're gonna have a teeny, tiny discussion about not cutting off swivels and using the crimp on weights I sent with my son. What character thinks a bare hook with a worm will cast properly? Yeah he came home without catching any fish and a rats...

    Motor and Outdrive Replacement options?

Going DIY is going to be much, much cheaper than paying a marina that may or may not be willing to complete the project. You may get a marina to bite on it in the off months.

    Advice Needed on Boat Repair.

Umm....If the boat's in that bad of condition, I'm not so sure a swim platform would survive. I'd be reviewing the transom, floor, and stringers before trying to hang a swim platform off it as you may not be anchoring into anything substantial. IF you're heck bent on it, throwing caution to...

Boat bogs down after 30-90 minutes

Just ask a mod to move it to the appropriate section. In regards to your issue, if I didn't know better I'd say you have some sort of fuel issue. In Hotrodding, I'd call it heat soak (of the starter) when you can't restart it until it cools down. IF this is an HEI distributor, you might look...

    Busiest day of the year

Went out once to watch the fireworks over Boldt Castle in 1000 Islands. Was a nice show however it was in a light rain and absolutely no moon. Trip back was harrowing as we stayed in the shipping channel. Me in my 18' Bayliner following my uncle in his 18' Sylvan getting buzzed by 30-40ft power...

    Wiring a water temp gauge.

From the vid and your pic, that looks like a standard "bolt" used to close the threaded hole up so it doesn't leak. Any sender I've ever seen has a wire running to it as that's how they generally function. That bronze/brass "bolt" looks very similar to the water jacket plugs I had to pull when...

    1972 Starcraft Chieftain 21ft IB/OB project

Me...I'd be replacing the floor (and potentially foam), yanking the motor, and replacing the transom at a bare, bare minimum. That'd give me a known good starting spot to build off of. Then, I'd be looking at a 4.3 Merc out of a donor glass boat. Get the whole boat so you have the harnesses...

    Evinrude 25 Electric Conversion

It's more reliable than you are giving it credit. Terminal blocks like that are still used today. Much easier to service a single wire in that terminal block then say a 20 pin connector which requires specialized tools to eject the pin from the plug housing for repair/replace.

    Rinker Captiva

IF it smells like gas, it might be a vent line then. You're going to have to trace it internally to see what it runs to. Usually a vent is located near the gas fill...some are incorporated right into the gas fill. My Chap is separate, about a foot or two lower than the gas fill. Overboard...

Old Evinrude question, Can anyone help?

Looks eerily familiar to our '56 Big Twin 30HP. Only difference is that ours didn't have that bar across the back of the motor. IF someone didn't sand it off, I bet you get that gray paint off you'll find the Evinrude blue metallic underneath.

They're in the trunk/under rear seat so unlike a Tesla with a direct dunk. Still not something I'd be doing as the electric motor(s) are likely submerged.

    BRP Horizontal Engine?

I've checked local dealers, they all say call for price on their webpage and use stock marketing photos for listings. In otherwords...still vaporware in my neck of the woods. It looks like the Alumacraft BRP Rotax offering is doa as I couldn't build a boat recently with that power plant. Only...
