    1961 19ft Bellboy

I'd say it all depends and only you can decide if it's worthy of a restore... IF you're not in a rush to get on the water, have an understanding admiral (wife/s.o.), and like the boat, it could be a project for yourself. It may take longer BUT you can piecemeal it as funds and time allow. Who...

Front wheel drive launching & retrieving

My uncle towed and launched his 18' Sylvan with a Ford Taurus for years. You're over thinking this, go boating.

Front wheel drive launching & retrieving

Current specs on the Odyssey say 3500lbs towing. I don't think you're going to know its back there. Happy launching.

    Help IDing Trailer

That's a really light boat....bet you can shove it off relatively easily with the back bunks just in the water. Reminds me of my Uncle's 16' starcraft. He'd just back it in so the back bunks were wet, and with the motor up, give it a shove into the water to launch. Pretty much same for...

    Never owned a boat!

Been around boats long enough we've probably all seen someone try using a vehicle that isn't up to the task. For ex: in the 80's saw a F150 2wheel, single wheel peel, try to retrieve a 30' cigarette boat out of Point Breeze, Lake Ontario. Boat was on the trailer. Truck was smoking the rear...

Lifting boat off trailer to repair bunk

Me...I'd get the replacement bunks ready to go, launch it, and do the repair work in the parking lot. Probably 15-20 minutes provided you plan ahead. Rip old off, replace with new, bolt on and you're gtg.

    Never owned a boat!

I get it. No one likes to hear their vehicle isn't up to the challenge but in this instance...you're putting a large cart behind a shetland pony. It isn't going to end well. And even IF you have a second vehicle cart all that required gear for you, you are going to be making several trips from...

    Never owned a boat!

You're forgetting a few key pieces of information.... That's dry...no gas, no batteries, no safety gear, no anchors, nada, zero, zip. All that "stuff" weighs something. Gas alone probably puts you over 7200 lbs. Then there's the trailer its sitting on. Probably double if not triple axle right...

    2022 NFL - Week 5

Ohh I dunno....ever see the movie Necessary Roughness? Or The Replacements? There's plenty of material in there for the Lions defense to use :)

    Depth finder

It'll cycle through the numbers for the depth alarm setting. Just sayin... If it were me...I'd get the gauge off the backside of the dash. Bet it cures what ails it.

    Depth finder

Look again at the gauge itself - it doesn't look like its installed properly. There's usually buttons to increase/decrease the depth alarm on these and they aren't present because....they're burried behind the dash. Look at how the LL for Lowrance is off kilter...that's not factory, that's...

    Depth finder

My guess, based off a couple of these I've had, is that the gauge is pressed right up against the dash which is depressing a button, or two. Pull the depth finder....are there buttons on it?

    Nobody fishing?

My better half's fish. We tried for the first time some Northland Buck-shot rattle spoons tipped with worm. Worked wonders where we fish. 1/8oz as they fish with either ultralight or light spinning gear **I go medium for bigger lures/fish.

So i was gifted a boat..

http://www.fiberglassics.com/library/index.php?title=File:Seastarb71010.jpg Answered my own question...tis glass....but a small one. Not going to be as monumental as a larger boat, but still going to be $$$$ to restore properly if needed.

    Nobody fishing?

Season is pretty much wrapped up for my family (we don't ice fish). I'll see if I can dig up some pics later but... All my boys caught fish this year. Oldest caught his first largemouth bass and first catfish - both were in the 12" range. Middle son caught his first largemouth and first...

    Caprice Shudder at Hwy Speed

Sounds like a motor or tranny mount if its traveling from front to back of the car. Could be wrong and it may very well be a driveshaft as mentioned above. Any abnormal tire wear to indicate it maybe bad shock/strut/spring? Mileage on the car?

So i was gifted a boat..

Depending on where you are, the most important piece is going to be the paperwork proving you own it. If you don't have that and are stateside you may have a challenge getting it registered. This is the first thing I would sort out before sinking any beer/wine/rum/vodka tokens into it. After...
