    If it was mine I would slide the bearing to where it normally would be and see if the fit is ok without any wiggle. If so I would run it.

    Maybe it is just the lighting or the color rendition of my computer screen but that axle appears to have been subject to high heat in the area of the inner bearing.

    Unusual but not rare. Used to see that a couple of times a year back when I was working the lake. I do remember seeing a Ranger bassboat with a port side helm. The only Ranger I ever saw configured that way.

    Depending on what state or province you are in be certain you have all the paperwork needed to show you are the owner of the boat. It could be a real shame to put hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars fixing it up and find you can not get it registered for use.

    Mercury used the Quicksilver name on many of their accessories including their steering systems. Brunswick who owned Mercury also had their own line of boats that used the Quicksilver name.
