Need help identifying 69 fiberglass boat

Paperwork when I bought it said it was a 1969 Quicksilver the steering wheel says quicksilver so that is the only reason I can think that ended up as the model between previous owners.

The engine that came with it is an Evinrude 40HP Lark 1967 and does not appear to be the original motor as there are lower bolt holes and Evinrude is just the top thumbscrew bolts. It had teleflex steering where there are signs of drum and pulley steering which I am planning to put back in. The steering also appears to have been originally on the right and moved to the left.

Wanting to identify what the make and model of this boat is so I can find some reference pictures during the restore as I don't know what is possibly modified or original at this point. I am trying to determine if the floor was just carpet or if there was some type of deck previously installed and removed? I cannot find any sign that there was any type of deck or stringers and this is just an all-fiberglass hull with bulkhead and transom board as the only wood.

Mercury used the Quicksilver name on many of their accessories including their steering systems. Brunswick who owned Mercury also had their own line of boats that used the Quicksilver name.

If there was an achievement for reviewing every page on fiberglassics I would have achieved this lol..... but I did run through everything A-Z and could not find a match. Spent the day endlessly scrolling again and trying to find anything I could on the net but while I can find similar looking boats there is always something that is different which confirms it is definitely not it.

That sucks, I was hoping you would find something there. I think there were so many small boat companies during the early days of glass boats but one thing that might help is that many small manufacturers didn't ship their boats far, is there a chance a local library might have info on boat manufacturers that were in your state and surrounding states? Any info on the trailer that might help with the boat?

I had hoped someone might recognize but perhaps out of luck. I am curious about the metal supports at the back of the boat and if these were original or not. Putting in cable steering and these seem to be in the way of cables, so I need to remove them but knowing the original structure of this boat would be helpful to insure I am not jeopardizing any needed structure. There is no sign of a deck or stringers in the boat, but it would be nice to know if there were and someone just removed and never replaced.

The papers I received when I purchased the boat only had last sale of the boat being in 91 and in Nebraska so seems the boat would possibly have been from Midwest. The reference to Quicksilver and the steering wheel is this which was on the boat...

A close match on the 400 Series but cannot find enough information to confirm this is the boat...

The year would be around that time since Kiekhaefer was absorbed into the Brunswick company around 1961 and was no longer it's own corporation.

When I was young and dumb and my handle on here was applicable still.... I had 2 boats I acquired via labor trade and now former in-laws where I did all the work on the engines, completed the stringers build and transom on the keeper of the two only to find out I did not have all the paperwork to make anything TX and had to part with them! So, I got it right this time around.... only started investing time and energy and once I got all the paperwork done and made it TX

Just an observation, unless I am seeing things incorrectly, the helm appears to be located on the opposite side of the boat than the boats I own.

Quite possible that this boat had a " dockbuster " on it at one time.----Those had a left hand prop !

Unusual but not rare. Used to see that a couple of times a year back when I was working the lake. I do remember seeing a Ranger bassboat with a port side helm. The only Ranger I ever saw configured that way.

I actually have this on my list to figure out why they moved it to the left side... it was installed on the right originally and there was definitely a different motor on this thing based on holes in the transom.... I am just now trying to figure out the mystery of what prop it has on it

Looks like this was optional prop 378571 and based on what I could find it is RH so maybe it had a different engine on with LH and they didn't move it to the right.... I know nothing about props yet so I am assuming all the information below lines up from the PJ40 stamp and I should plan on installing the steering on the right side as it should be.

Leave it alone do not start cutting holes, keep it original.

I do not see where the helm was swapped sides. Many old boats had the helm on that side.

Actually if you look at the first pic which has a very clear shot of the dash you can see screw holes and a cut in the lower part of the dash where it looks like the steering wheel was mounted previously. Left most one appears to maybe have been filled in with some thickened paint/epoxy??

So it does appear to have been moved at some point.

There's a mounting pad on that side as well for the controls...again visible in the first pic when enlarged.

Can't help on the prop other than it may read PJ40? Cone nut held on with cotter pin....bet its got a shear pin under it. Not so found memories of changing those standing in the water - stumps are a bummer.
