    I can relate to this!

That was my father. He sorted and labeled hundreds of jars, cans, and boxes of items. I found a box in the attic full of pieces of carpet padding labeled "pieces of carpet padding to small to save" We never threw anything away without first taking it apart and saving all the fasteners...

    Boat accident at dusk

A little different in the US. A state can have what is knows as primacy which means that they have a law that basically adapts 33CFR in its wording. Minor changes can be made usually if they are more strict than the federal law. This is done by exemption from preemption. Here is an example...

    Expected speed from Minn Kota

I have usually left it down. Don't know what the speed difference would be tilted up but it is easier to keep going in a straight line with the motor acting as a rudder.

    New to me 850 mercury

If you ever have to remove the flywheel it is just the large nut in the center and the proper puller. Do not disassemble the flywheel by removing the 8 bolts before making witness marks with a scribe or paint as it can be put together in the wrong orientation.

Got ME a nice something, BECAUSE!!! :)

My ammo for my carry in the truck, SS 151 Ruger. Have at least 6 boxes of this from back in the day when it was our duty issue. I reload and have at least 2 gallon ice cream containers of 38 and one of 357 brass still. Have switched to autos for CC but my wife still uses a S&W mod 37 as her...

    Elgin 5HP motor

That Elgin appears to be about 1954 or so made by West Bend. Yes it is water cooled. Darned if I know where the telltale is but you could check close below where the arrow points and see if there is about a 3/16th or so hole clogged with rust or crud. Some one on the list may be able to tell...

    What is this wire for?

Check for continuity with a meter between the end where it was cut and the block. It should be open on a cold engine. If not it may be only a defective sensor. Follow racerone's instructions to let us know what shape the engine is in also.

Spark plugs for older Merc (80s)?

Ever have that fireball pass you when a loose wire made a spark and ignited the discharge from a cylinder near the one you were testing? Haven't had that happen in a long time since most of the newer boats have kill switches. Just have remember to pull the cord out now.

    Buying a fishing boat

If every thing works as it should that would make a good fishing rig and the price seems to be inline of what it would go for in my neck of the woods. Very close to my present fishing boat and maybe my last one. I have downsized from larger go fast bass boats due to my age and the fact I fish...

    Boat company name

Either did I until I looked it up. I did remember they were later than the US but couldn't remember the year. Been retired so long now I can't even remember all the Pennsylvania regulations.
