    Battery Help!!

Bigger is always better, especially on lead acid batteries...drawing them down to far can cause permanent damage.

    Upgrade Outboard Motor

Sounds like you have a tiller steer....so yes the weight of the motor along with the driver at the stern can make a difference. Some folks just add enough weight at the stern to simulate the extra weight of the motor and go for a test ride before making their purchase. Weight can also be moved...

    Upgrade Outboard Motor

Normally folks use the max capacity, less the motor weight, less equipment weight then what ever is left is for people. Motor and equipment weights are fairly constant, but people and there personal items are what varies. If you have a 300# passenger one time then a 125# passenger the next...

going to buy a used mercruiser

Pay close attention to the #2 and 3 cylinder. It has been my experience that the head gaskets blow out between those two cylinders from an overheat and a head warp. Be sure your comp gage works properly !

Suggestions on how to fill my onboard gas tank?

Remember those days well !! 1954 Elgin 7.5 up outboard....tank fill in the back, but it would turn 180 so the fill was inside then. Wasn't strong enough to handle a 5 gallon gas can but did carry a couple one gallon gas cans. Gas smell from the splashes never went away, but it didn't seem to...

Those are my same findings... Thus the reason I mentioned, no real sales, just sales pitches.

    Black Friday trolling motor deals

At my age changing my own tires is in the past. Mail order tires can be shaky if you have tire issues. So far Walley World has beat everyone on brand name tires, but to say it is a sale ???

Without newspapers anymore and many of us staying away from social media, hard to know what is on sale. Been shopping for tires, haven't saw any sales, nor do I know where to look !!

    Boat Cover

If you have a quick release mount for your trolling motor and you think it might be an attraction to theives, remove it and lay it on the floor of you boat. Mine can be removed in less than two minutes, by doing this, a cover can be made for less money. Every added feature on a cover makes the...

    Engine size for Wooden Boat?

My current 16' tinnie is rated for 80 hp....I have a two stroke 40 hp Merc and it does 31 plus mph. In flat water it can get squarely and in a breeze down right scary at times. Often thought how scary it would be with an 80 hp outboard on it....heck even a 60 might be scary unless you had a...

In my 60 plus years of boating, most every boating accident I have witnessed is from folks not knowing how to handle to much HP !!

Cost of a metal box to hold a large home generator.

Probably a Fab shop in your area, get a quote from them. I would not use gav. metal, instead aluminum. You could make your own fairly easy.

    Boat Cover

Custom made is the only choice if you want the cover to fit properly and keep out the rain. Expensive, yes but well worth it in the long run. Aftermarket covers don't last very long where my custom covers have lasted at least 10 years and many far longer.

When it floods, we blame global warming, when we have a drought we blame it on global warming, when will we blame ED on global warning ??

Stalling at Idle and Idle Speed

Yep...cheapest and easiest is to suck out and flush your tank then add a good filter before the motor. I always start with the more obvious, cheaper, quicker methods of trouble shooting to try and solve a problem...having a clean tank and fresh fuel is always a good place to start.
