    Upgrading batteries and charging system

The LiFePo4's will more then likely (99.9% sure) have a built-in BMS(Battery management system), this allows the LiFePo4 battery's to connect into any "old world" charging systems and not over/under charge/dis-charge and keep us all safe from exploding or worse yet, catching the world on fire...

New digital tachometer on ‘78 Evinrude 85HP not working correctly

Ahhhhh, yeah, that's not so bad, I'd live with that as long as it stays accurate through its full range.. Mine bumb's like that every once in a while.

New digital tachometer on ‘78 Evinrude 85HP not working correctly

Nah, you still have noise issues........Unless defective, it should be stable (not 500 - 2K at idle) and react more or less instantaneously

New digital tachometer on ‘78 Evinrude 85HP not working correctly

Sounds like just spurious noise that's added in with the speed signal, obviously equal parts noise and sig can jumble up the readings........Try adding (splicing in) some resistance (1-20K ohms) in series in the signal line, this will add some filtering that should reduce the higher freq noise...

Isolating house loads for dual battery setup

I don't use an ACR or the "ON, OFF, Combine" switch BUT, I do have multi battery's and a battery management/iso setup similar to it. That said, a backup plan as DB said is a must, there are few ways to do this, his is a good one esp if he/your offshore. However, beings I just have one Sonar...

    I need a small in-dash tachometer

Sorry man, see correction above............10 cyl = 5 pulses/rev. The tach I found (and deleted in #18) would need to do 12 cyl = 6 pulse/rev. So my best "work around" other then finding this needle in the hay stack, errrr.......2 stroke 2" 6p/v tach is..... You use a "inline" divide by 2...

    Tachometer repair?

Hmmm.... I assume your in your boat and it's running with the 13.4V? Should be 11V tops if D1 is a 11V zener and R1 is anywhere near 470 ohms. Not sure........... With the 1 amp inline fuse still in place with the tach's battery +12 stud , short out (use a jumper wire, etc) Q1 e--->c...

    Boat Stereo Install

Few ways to go about this, his is one, your's is another, I suggest headphones and put an end to it all!!...........BUT, The amp's output (speakers) are isolated so as long as the input power to the amp difference is 12V it wouldn't matter where the negative is referenced as long as the...

    Automatic bilge wiring help

How big is your pump? Less than 5 amps? Typical pumps are, Rule 1100 GPH = 4amp And your dash switch rating? 5/10 amps? Usually they are........ Personally, I would not add a relay unless you're over current somewhere in the above. P.S. Never (not that you intended too) use/wire a bilge...

(See below pin-out of IC1 to re-verify pin-outs), However...........With 12V applied 1) Check for 12V on collector ("c") of Q1 (See below for pin-out Q1) Vc good? Go to 2. Vc not good? Burn't open copper trace? Check...

    90hp mercury fuse/rectifier problem

Well depends on your control box of course but, generally speaking if you have a simple side mount console type or the like, the trim switch has a cable leading into the box, should be a connector you can just unplug........see below as an example.
