    Voltage drop(s)

Mine was doing that exact same thing few yrs back, called Garmin, took him with me on the boat give him measurements, he said "FW notes didn't say this issue was an included fix, but try anyway. My display voltage was almost 2V off from back connector voltage read right on the pins, the FW...

    Voltage drop(s)

@dingbat This is odd...So the displayed voltage you see only really then indicates the health/status of your(a) GPS/FF internal regulator's output voltage? And is derived from a 5V regulator? My Garmin (and other past manu's) are definitely monitoring the units "raw" 12V inputted supply...

    Voltage drop(s)

Ohms law....V = I*R Voltage (drop) = Resistance( wire gauge/connections) * Current (though said wires/connections) a) The higher the resistance/s at some current flow, the higher the voltage drop across the/those resistance/s. b) The higher the current flow through the/those resistance/s...

    Snow Birds: Beware!

@tpenfield So far so good with mine......I have an old Lenox Pulse and the "fan only" circuit would draw too much current for the ecobee.....I just used a relay as a work around. You can use the "fan only" as a "air turn-over" as i call it feature. Meaning.... that the ecobee can be set to...

    A New Tool I Didn't Need BUT........

Thanks, it's a nice/needed change from silicone/copper, scopes and meters, building with some good ole wood, glue and screws is just as rewarding.

    Snow Birds: Beware!

@harringtondav FWIW, I picked up one of these a year back or so at Costco and so far so good and BONUS!!, it comes the the "Power Extender Kit" (PEK) for your "C" wire install. The extra room monitor works pretty cool too if for example it's just you and the wife each night in the bedroom, idle...

    Best Browser add on's

Use three add-ons with FF (see below), Greesemonkey blocks sites from detecting/knowing your blocking their adds.(some sites will shut you off from (or slow) their content if they know your blocking their adds) Also yes for my PC's and phones, I use Norton's VPN service (running mostly naked...

Wiring diagram for 2002 mercury 90 hp

@Texasmark The second red wire (un-fused) that also connects to the same 12V battery point (or further down steam) as the other red (fused?) output power wire, is called the sense wire (local or remote). As designed intentionally, sensing is done with at high input impedance level. As the...

Wiring diagram for 2002 mercury 90 hp

Yup......... Gotta add a fuse in the rec/reg's red output wire that connects to the battery/solenoid , $1 fuse (and a BIGGER law suit) would have prevented this! https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Mercury-Voltage-Regulator-8M0084173/dp/B00J5QESR6 I'm sure thread cops are on their way for posting...

    Battery switch question

So you mentioned "annoying that I need to open my engine compartment to switch" which you'll still be required to do with the above mentioned/suggested blue sea options. i.e., IF you want the battery/s "OFF"...........Which is most safe to do if you leave your boat moored or not used/unattended...

    Mercury 15hp 2 stroke tachometer

Your 98, manual start or electric start? And of either kind of start type, do you have two wires (gray and yellow) coming from the stator (red or black) that either go to and stop at a terminal block or feed a rectifier or feed a voltage regulator?

    Garmin power

Is this a new install? or an old install that just started doing this? If it's new, could be a few things as others have pointed out, if the battery is most likely good and you're not sure yet if it's in the wiring or it is just the unit causing the issue, then I'd run a temp power connection...

    1984 Mercury V-6 150HP Poppet Valve

It's possible, sure......... I'd suspect the springs when manu'd all have same'ish tension constants and are probably then by default, opening at the same fixed'ish pressure point, and yes, when opened dump excess pressurized lake water directly back into the exhaust as to not over pressure the...

https://weather.com/news/weather/video/watch-arecibo-observatorys-dramatic-collapse Amazing, pretty much only with a drone to be that close and watch those cables go like that...WOW! I think the drone is up and to the left out of site around the left tower as seen from the ground view...

Merc(Triac type) to Shindengen(FET type) Single Phase Stator Rec/Reg Test and Conversion.

Clarification to above.....Both types tested and compared at 10A, Shindengen's device is rated up to 20A. (see "single-phase open type") which I believed(bad hearsay) was FET, but it might still be thyristor.

Merc(Triac type) to Shindengen(FET type) Single Phase Stator Rec/Reg Test and Conversion.

A more or less self explanatory bored to death pandemic pictorial special.....The new Shindengen rec/reg proved to be a cooler 20A runner and so far(since summer), solid as a rock. Background/Motivation: Merc went to Shindengen's Rec/Reg with their newer motors that are 3 phase stators HOWEVER...
