F hole on that is just for decoration, right? I love the sound of a telecaster - play a fat strat type most of the time, myself.

    1975 225 OMC

In a tank/barrel the Stringer won't draw water. The bulk of the drive has to be submerged, and then the impeller will move the water for you. The fitting in your photo with the hose is to run water into the system when you're on the hard. Barrel won't work. Mine used to look like a water...

Please help identify this old sailboat

Do some looking at sailboats offered by Montgomery Ward and Sears. But you can also chase down some of the Snark boats. They were in that vein, but I don't know that the hull style fits them. Coming through the 60s and 70s there were a BUNCH of manufactures making trailer boats - most of them...

    Anyone own a Helix 5 GPS Chirp3 Head. I have a question.

That center one is a COM port: it's a way to hook up to certain GPS antennas and/or a computer to do updates and transfer data (you can also do this by using a SIM card). It's optional to use - so the cable doesn't come with it.

Best boat for skiing and wakeboarding

Ski boat is designed to lay down an nice flat table to ski behind. It's got a great hole shot, but tries to run really flat. That's great for skiing. It's good for tubing (really almost anything works for that). But no good for wake board or surfing ... ... ballast bags would get you a better...

Are these old D!ck Pope Water Skis any good?

I cut my skiing-teeth on skis like that. I still have two pair. If you restore them, understand that while you can ski on them they really don't perform any where near as well as the more modern design. They're a little heavy on your legs maneuvering and the rudders don't give you the control...

    OMC 800 stringer

That whole coupling should just fall out. If you can gently put a pair of needle nose on the edge, it should take minimal force to get it out (usually it's' harder to get it to stay in). I guess maybe if the clutch pack is so badly gunked up, the corrosion may have made it's way up the worm...

    Sea Ray 1977 200SR

You may want to do a couple of checks on the Stringer drive: 1) pull the upper gear case and see if it turns free. You should be able to turn it by hand (or maybe using a hand tool), but it should move relatively easy. Then you may want 2) test the lower to see if it shifts into gear. If either...

2000 Bayliner Capri 1600 Gas Lid

My classic has a typical spin off cap. I think I've seen photos of what you have, but haven't ever used one. My understanding though is that there is a little button on the bottom (6PM. position). Depress that, and up it should go. If not, you'll have to disassemble from behind the splash well...

    What To Get?

For sailing, I recommend starting small and working your way up. A 16' sloop rig will be a great way to learn (but it won't do well for four people and a dog). Once you're comfortable sailing, then you could work your way up into something larger. Sailboat will not do too well on the rivers...

    What To Get?

What it sounds to me like "might" fit for you - and a lot of this boils down to personal taste - is a walk-around cuddy. Four people and a dog could be comfortable on it. Good for fishing, cruising or anchoring up and enjoying the water. Two people could spend a night or two on some of them...

    Sea Ray 1977 200SR

Part of what's behind racerone's post #2 is that the electric shift stringers were obsolete in 1990s. You're into an antique. Personally, I've owned the electric shift, and I actually like it (there are some advantages). But they were done by 1978 and within another decade OMC was gone. (EDIT...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

I was surprised (pleasantly) by this trip. It's been rainy most of my time here in Italy, but sight seeing was a secondary thing. I think I got a few good shots with the Nikon, so maybe i'll get a couple up on the wall. I actually brought my water color travel kit with me, but haven't had much...

Wound up coming to a show in Europe this past week (Germany) for work, but took a couple days to come to Italy to visit my son. Got to see Venice for the first time:
